  1. Unai Emery is selecting a team out of necessity, I can see the reasons for this. He has to trust his method and as he says: "creating an identity". Emery often looks energetic on the touchline but he seemed almost agitated today, Villa looked to be playing well within themselves. Perhaps why we struggled a little to dominate the game. Villa need to step up though for the next two games, at home and under the lights I'm hopeful they will.
  2. Looks off the pace, lacks confidence. And for a big strong guy falls over alot... Hope he improves but again he's playing out of necessity I guess.
  3. What a finish, absolutely wonderful goal. The pass from Torres, great cross from Diaby and top class header. Watkins obviously not fully fit but still a threat.
  4. I voted Conference League but really there is an argument for any of the three options. Hopefully we win the Conference League AND qualify for the Champions League; pretty sure unai Emery is targeting both.
  5. Yeah the one-off really was a great moment, completely opened Legia up on that right side... I thought he played quite well to be fair.
  6. I disagree, thought he showed skill and power when holding the ball up against their CB who was intent on fouling him. His speed at tracking back and the sliding tackles were wonderful, got the crowd going too every time he did it. Yes still raw but definitely a player there in Durán.
  7. Olsen did well and was pretty decent with the ball at his feet. Not even Dibu could have stopped their goal.
  8. Also rhymes with Penis which is something he always has to live with!
  9. Seen some terrible abuse from their fans on social media particularly directed against Matty Cash. Pretty certain the law should be looking into this; there are threats to his family, himself and comments attributed to the second world war and genocide of his family. It's actually unbelievable some of things people are writing...
  10. Always disliked them, actually hate them now... PSG should really have won the game with all the chances.
  11. I don't think we need to take that risk; by all means if the match is well won then bring them both on for thirty minutes at the end of the game.
  12. Great move for all concerned, Villa family and hopefully Emery is here long-term. How about a pre-season tournament with Real Unión, Vissel Kobe, ZED FC and Vitória Sport Clube? Don't we have a good relationship with Bayer Leverkusen, possibly invite them too?
  13. Villa owe these, hopefully that early defeat galvanises us to get a good win. Hopefully a good game this one, looking forward to it too.
  14. Spuds have benefited financially for a good fifteen years longer than Villa yet they and the media are bemoaning their lack of strength in depth and injuries. I have no sympathy for them at all... Second-half Villa controlled them which was wonderful to see!
  15. Is Heung Min Son a bit stupid? The reason I ask is he looks so gormless and has frequently being flagged for offside; I'm sure this happened last season too.
  16. The Arsenal picture of him needs changed on his wiki...
  17. Just watched the full ninety... Villa were poor first half and brilliant in the second-half; fair play Unai Emery for making both aggressive and positive changes. Bailey and Tielemans really helped us. Emi Martinez with several fantastic and World Class saves further justifying his position as the best goalkeeper. Watkins quiet and still showed his class, lay-off, touch and finish was quality. I just had a read of the Pau Torres thread which is a little bizarre as I thought he was very good. Diaby a bit of a worry though, seemed way off today. Up the Villa and take that and your stupid Yid Army chant, f****** morons. Btw, is Heung Min Son a bit stupid? He looks so gormless and constantly gets flagged offside, I'm sure it happened many times in the previous game against them.
  18. Depends on what Villa and Emery want from the season, he'll want fifth at least. So therein lies the pressure to win matches... Add in our away form and teams looking likely to catch us then there is pressure whether you like it or not, it exists regardless.
  19. Yeah, a must win match for Villa now....pressure on from the cheating Barcodes.
  20. With the cheating Barcodes now winning I'd suggest this is an even bigger game... Villa really must win to keep momentum and breathing space from those around us.
  21. Can anyone edit his wiki photo? He's wearing the wrong colours...
  22. Stand by the point, England has the strongest squad in World football. The radio debate the other day also verified this, for me. The problem people have is Southgate and picking the likes of Maguire who should not be starting. Tomori, Guehi, Stones, Konsa, Dunk should all be ahead of him.
  23. Our left-side was dominant in that fixture and to have it ripped out of the side in our opening games was a big miss. However Villa have done well without them both so far, great time to get them back though with a tough run of fixtures. Still not sure if Moreno will start yet though, maybe see him from the bench if the match is going well on Sunday. I see no reason to risk him and rush him back...
  24. I agree that England probably have the best SQUAD in world football...there was a debate on the radio the other day about this and the depth is without doubt the strongest. Other teams are on the slide, England should be in with a chance. However lots of variables, the draw, Southgate and his ability to be proactive during a match. I'm really not sure he is as savvy as other managers and countries; perhaps a cultural thing or conservatism.
