  1. Great move for all concerned, Villa family and hopefully Emery is here long-term. How about a pre-season tournament with Real Unión, Vissel Kobe, ZED FC and Vitória Sport Clube? Don't we have a good relationship with Bayer Leverkusen, possibly invite them too?
  2. Villa owe these, hopefully that early defeat galvanises us to get a good win. Hopefully a good game this one, looking forward to it too.
  3. Spuds have benefited financially for a good fifteen years longer than Villa yet they and the media are bemoaning their lack of strength in depth and injuries. I have no sympathy for them at all... Second-half Villa controlled them which was wonderful to see!
  4. Is Heung Min Son a bit stupid? The reason I ask is he looks so gormless and has frequently being flagged for offside; I'm sure this happened last season too.
  5. The Arsenal picture of him needs changed on his wiki...
  6. Just watched the full ninety... Villa were poor first half and brilliant in the second-half; fair play Unai Emery for making both aggressive and positive changes. Bailey and Tielemans really helped us. Emi Martinez with several fantastic and World Class saves further justifying his position as the best goalkeeper. Watkins quiet and still showed his class, lay-off, touch and finish was quality. I just had a read of the Pau Torres thread which is a little bizarre as I thought he was very good. Diaby a bit of a worry though, seemed way off today. Up the Villa and take that and your stupid Yid Army chant, f****** morons. Btw, is Heung Min Son a bit stupid? He looks so gormless and constantly gets flagged offside, I'm sure it happened many times in the previous game against them.
  7. Depends on what Villa and Emery want from the season, he'll want fifth at least. So therein lies the pressure to win matches... Add in our away form and teams looking likely to catch us then there is pressure whether you like it or not, it exists regardless.
  8. Yeah, a must win match for Villa now....pressure on from the cheating Barcodes.
  9. With the cheating Barcodes now winning I'd suggest this is an even bigger game... Villa really must win to keep momentum and breathing space from those around us.
  10. Can anyone edit his wiki photo? He's wearing the wrong colours...
  11. Stand by the point, England has the strongest squad in World football. The radio debate the other day also verified this, for me. The problem people have is Southgate and picking the likes of Maguire who should not be starting. Tomori, Guehi, Stones, Konsa, Dunk should all be ahead of him.
  12. Our left-side was dominant in that fixture and to have it ripped out of the side in our opening games was a big miss. However Villa have done well without them both so far, great time to get them back though with a tough run of fixtures. Still not sure if Moreno will start yet though, maybe see him from the bench if the match is going well on Sunday. I see no reason to risk him and rush him back...
  13. I agree that England probably have the best SQUAD in world football...there was a debate on the radio the other day about this and the depth is without doubt the strongest. Other teams are on the slide, England should be in with a chance. However lots of variables, the draw, Southgate and his ability to be proactive during a match. I'm really not sure he is as savvy as other managers and countries; perhaps a cultural thing or conservatism.
  14. First goal crucial, keep it disciplined Villa. Could be a high-scoring game this one...
  15. On a slightly different theme many observers would say the interest in the rights to broadcasting football would wane. But it seems not to be the case as the interest for football is never more popular than currently. This is bad as some cultures like Saudi are only interested in the winners. Football has changed so much even in my 46 years, it is so different now. I think I read somewhere that up until the nineties many or half English top flight clubs felt capable of at least giving the league a good shot, now it seems only one team is confident to win the league.
  16. Bribery and corruption...can't trust the Saudi business model. Incentivised voting perhaps?
  17. THIS. It's going to be a farce when that happens... Football is gradually becoming a closed shop, even more so when the Saudi ownership model really kicks in as they will dominate (own) everything.
  18. Glad to hear he is on the mend, emotionally and physically.
  19. It is evident that these specific injuries can take some length of time to heal for even professional athletes and the emotional aspect is something extra to deal with. Perhaps there are some complications with his injury and the healing has not gone as expected. I guess just speculation on my part... I've always liked him and hope he is well whatever transpires.
  20. Nice idea trying Trent Alexander Arnold in midfield but i'm not sure it worked? The pundits seemed to think he was great but I thought he gave the ball away a bit too much and didn't really have an impact. Thought Rice and Foden were very good though. Throw Bellingham in there too and England have a very strong team, still not sure Southgate has the technical nous to win a tournament though. Phillips and Maguire should be nowhere near starting for England, it's getting beyond a joke!
  21. This is another fantastic opportunity to get three points; I'd fancy Villa regardless of their injuries but this should help us even more. Just don't be complacent and start slow because we have tended to give the home team the ascendancy in a few away games this season...
  22. True, the injury to Mings was a massive psychological and tactical blow. I'd also say losing Buendia only days before the match upset the plan, our pressing ability and tactically everything went out the window. Not to mention our left side was weakened without Moreno and Ramsey who ripped them apart at Villa Park only months before...
