He would need a legitimate grievance to go on strike and get the support of a union. He can't just say 'I don't want to be here anymore'. That's not how it works!

He can though. Under EU law you have freedom of movement and labour throughout the EU. In reality If he wants to go nobody can stop him. Villa are better off playing nice and giving him a clear idea of the price Villa feel he's worth. If we get that he'll be sold, if not he can stay for one more season and the price tag will be less next summer as he'll only have two years left on his deal.

If we get anything above £20m for him it will be good business but we'll never know the fee as it'll be undisclosed.

That just means you can work anywhere in the EU being a citizen of the EU. Nothing to do with being in a contract and saying bye bye I've changed my mind and you can wipe your back side on that contract.

The price tag won't be less next season because he will have one year less left on his deal.

If he improves and has a decent world cup then his price will rise. It has nothing to do with his contract length, he's not in his 30's for christ sake!

If and if and if. What if he doesn't have a good season next year? What if he breaks his leg? It's not like we're doubling our money we're tripling it and more. But the fact is he doesn't want to be here. So why cut our nose off? For a moral victory? How is that good business?

£7m into £25m in one year is now not considered good business. I only wish my company could do that.

How much could he be worth in another 12 months?

£7m into £35m or £40m in two years would be better!

Although I am extremely disappointed in Benteke we are not the naive innocent victim club people would believe - in fact we can be ruthless at times ourselves when it suits.

If you want proof that loyalty is a 2-way street, have a look at the way our club treats players who sign contracts in good faith only to be frozen out of the first team squad to encourage them to leave.

It's just the way it is. It's the supporters who speak of loyalty and pride and honour and respect. For the club and the players it's about the money - whether it be gorging off the tit of the TV rights or backing out of a contract for extra money even though you already make enough to make you rich beyond most peoples's imagining.

Yes, let's just roll over and die and let a 22 year old dictate to one of the oldest and most successful football clubs in the world. That makes sense.

No one will be rolling over.

We will negotiate the best deal we can get, reinvest the money in a couple of replacements and move on with the new season.

Even Sky Andrews the football agent was saying what Benteke has done by handing in a transfer request is down right disrespectful

When you have a football agent like him saying that you know he's a scumbag

There's no suggestion Benteke is forcing a move away. He's simply handed in a transfer request, which we'll accept if our conditions are met. That's how football works, and until he actually starts acting up, there's nothing to suggest he's forcing anything. What he's done is making his desires known, it's up to us to either allow the transfer to happen or not

Oh great, pacbuddies has seized his opportunity to have another bitch at the club - what a surprise.

Change the record son, for **** sake.

Because everything is going so well isn't it! One step forward and two steps back. Keep on living in cloud cuckoo land, it sounds like you belong there.

Two steps back pacbuddies?

Let's wait and see how much Benteke goes for, who Lambert brings in as a replacement and how they perform next year, before we decide whether its one step forward two steps back yet.

We don't know that it's two steps back though. We might replace Benteke with another fine player, or we might invest the money in 2-3 good players who massively improve the side overall. We don't know. Benteke might end up staying too

Yeah and imo that shows that he has no class and is a mercenery who couldnt care less that we gave him his chance and PL put great faith in him which imo was a big part in how succesful he has been over the last year. Since when is putting in a transfer request not equate to trying to force a move away?
