The Randy Lerner thread

There isn't much left to be proud of but the name......and now some are talking of selling it.

For me the name is sacrosanct and never ever, ever ever should be sold or interfered with.

Thank you!!! Is nothing sacred any longer?

Let's enjoy being a historic club like Preston and Nottingham Forrest.

Because we aren't going to catch up clubs earning more than us without taking steps like this.

Right now I'd settled for catching Newcastle and Everton and they have similar turn over to us ..hell seems Borni is joining Sunderland so thats 24mil on 2 players and they certainly have an income similar to us.

This austerity drive is to not run up liabilities to sell , unfortunately in doing so Lerner is making the club less attractive and runs risk of relegation which will destroy the value of the club.

It maybe a risky business model, but Spurs only began to act like they think they are the Real Madrid of London because they made big investments on proven international players who at worst they could recoup their transfer fees on.

If you fish with expensive bait you get big fish

If you fish with cat food and road kill you get condoms and dead rats

Terrible analogy

But under O'Neill we spent huge sums and wages on average British players, Houllier and McIdiot did much the same.

But with the club nowhere near being sold, isn't it about time Lerner took a much more calculated gamble on youngish proven players from decent leagues, rather than taking loads of low risk gambles that soon add up, are crap and have to be loaned out. Or old players that no other team actually wanted.

Surely good player signings add value/assets to the club in a sale scenario and add stability. Rumours we wouldn't even pay 4mil for Ki are pretty disgusting if true.

Instead it feels like all Lerner is doing is creating a team that can just about survive, whilst alienating our fans and throwing our international brand (what there is of it but surely something we were trying to grow) and our overall reputation down the toilet.

We are becoming one of those clubs that other teams look forward to beating easily and few people outside of our own fans wants to watch.

Praying for a takeover, a change in manager and budget is all we have but what happens in the meantime?

Ideal #avfc CEO candidate is "someone who's run an FC before". It should be more than that. Someone who can unite the fans with the club.

Interesting part in quotes. I wonder if Randy will anounnce he's here for this season at least. If only to make everything seem more settled. Although I'm sure if a chance to get out comes along he'll take it.

Cortese? If Randy really is over here trying to find a new CEO, it surely means that no sale is on the horizon.

Cortese ? - Optimistic

If Randy really is over here trying to find a new CEO, it surely means that no sale is on the horizon. - Realistic

Why would Cortese come to us under Lerner? More chance of Prince William being the next CEO!

Yes it confirms that there is no sale on the horizon.

So the only real new owner on the horizon is Our 'Oward and his merry band of backers?
