GENTLEMAN
I just don't think he's good enough. I don't think he offers anything in defence and barely offers anything in attack. Personally, I think that it is due to the quality of our attackers that his positive offensive play goes unrewarded; for example study his performance against Stoke, he created quite a lot of our attacking play simply by winning the ball back or passing the ball forward to start our counter attacks. I also believe a lot of his defensive work goes unnoticed due to his good positioning and organisation.
DCJonah
Like I said good players are usually noticed. I think Westwood is a pretty average player.

Brumstopdogs
Westwood is not a top calibre midfield and IMO he never will be as he lacks some fairly fundamental attributes that a lot of the better midfielders have. That's not to say he isn't an OK player - just nothing special. In our current situation IMO we should be playing either Cleverley or Westwood - not both of them together.

'never in a million years good enough' Yeah that as well. He wouldn't get a look in if he was around in the O'Neill era or any other decent Villa team of the last 30 years, yet you seem to be a big fan of his. Secondly, if we are using that argument, Bosnich wouldn't get past Guzan, but that doesn't make Bosnich crap. DCJonah
Going way off topic but Bosnich was a better keeper than Guzan.
Dodgyknees
I think Bosnich would have struggled in today's game, especially for a negative Villa. Guzan hardly ever let's us down.

He's better than sidwell and NRC who both got more than a 'look in' under MON.

NRC 102 appearances Sidwell 45 appearances Over like 3/4 years, and certainly not regularly in the games MON prioritised. Either way, Westwood hasn't shown anything to suggest he's better than them both. Tbh, all 3 are pretty turd with sidwell probably edging it after his form for reading and Fulham.

Woodytom
I'm not sure how Westwood playing 70 games in 3 years (actually less than 3) has anything to do with him getting a look in in the o'neill days?
