Ginko
I don't actually think £10 million is THAT overpriced. He's 25, proven he can score goals in the Premier League with a team that isn't exactly blessed with creativity bar Jarvis' crosses and he's a striker and strikers are always valued higher than any other position. I think he's a good player and I think he'd do well enough if he came here but we could maybe find someone more exciting and less expensive in Europe perhaps. Whether the player would adjust to the Premier League however, at least we know Fletcher can play in this league. He's great in the air too, something we're missing at the moment. CI
I would go to about £4.5m max plus add ons
Ginko
And how much would you stretch to for David Murphy?
CI
£750k for Murphy, better than Warnock IMHO
TrentVilla Posted July 30, 2012 Moderator Share Posted July 30, 2012 Personally speaking I think Bent and Fletcher would be a very good combination, they would balance each other and their individual strengths could see them form a decent partnership. All if's and maybe's at the moment.
AVFCforever1991
I don't understand why Weimann can't be decent target man, I mean he's (6 ft 2 in) compare that to Fletcher who is (6 ft 1 in)? He's got the height, just needs the training.
Ginko
Agreed, I think they could work very well together. I've always liked Fletcher, underrated in my opinion.
CI
Fonz must be 6ft 4 if Weimann is 6ft 2 ?? Are you sure your measurements are in order

TrentVilla Posted July 30, 2012 Moderator Share Posted July 30, 2012 Fletcher really isn't a target man.
8pints
TrentVilla Fletcher really isn't a target man. Not in a traditional sense but he does do a lot of target man work. Wins the ball in the air, holds up play, lynchpin of attack, distributes the ball. Similar in the sense to the role Keane played last season. PieFacE Posted July 30, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted July 30, 2012 The more i've been thinking about it the more I think we should go in for Fletcher. I was a big fan of his when he was at Burnley... I think he has something about him which could make him a brilliant Premier League striker. He's great in the air, has a great shot, and is also very composed. No complaints from me if we do make this signing... no matter what the cost. KjParton
To be honest if lambert thinks he will work in our squad then go for it. I would prefer Guidetti, but have 100% confidence in Lambert.

bannedfromHandV
I'd have him for £4 /£5 M but not much more. And it would appear that Wolves rate him at more than £10m so no fooking chance
CI
MON being MON, he will go back to his chairman and demand the bid is increased to £12m and wages of 65k a week Thank F@ck he's no longer with us
briny_ear
^^so it just remains to be seen if Ellis Short would be stupid enough to agree to spend money he couldn't afford/sustain as it seems Lerner did. :winkold:
Pilchard
Decent player at lower levels. Not a £10million player.

terrytini
Happy with Fletcher, anyone who can score in that shower of shite must be ok. Not worried at 10 million, goals are priceless. As with everything else I am happy to trust in PL but definitely a reasonable buy I think. Also think he would complement Bent very well actually
