How Many Dwellings Have You Considered Home?

Im on #5.

#1 was at grandparents house when I was a tiny baby. I had very young parents, I only lived there for a few months.

#2 was half a mile down the road. Mum & Dad's first place together. Lasted barely a year there because it had an open fire place, I dont remember living there but my mate lived there after me so I went into the house plenty of times as a child.

#3 was literally across the road from #2. Lived there for 20+ years until I moved out.

#4 first place on my own. Maybe a mile (as the crow flies) from the cluster of houses my childhood was spent in. Lived there for about ten years.

#5 moved earlier this year. Two or three miles from my last place.

5 places I've lived. 2 'Homes'. My parents still live in the family home I was brought up in. That will always feel like home. I've not lived there for some time, but whenever I visit I find myself nosing through the fridge to see what food is in and recording things on Sky +.

One.

My parents have never moved as a couple. In fact the house used to be grandparents house, and my nan lived with us till she died (technically it was her house till then too).

I've had other places I've lived in, during uni I lived in halls one year and then a cross between halls and a house for 2 years on the trot, but they were never home, just places I happened to be staying in for a while.

Assuming I can wrangle myself a decent job moving out will be fairly high on my agenda, I've started to feel the itch.

2 houses growing up, and 1 that I live in now which is the first house I've owned.

I lived in three separate places in Leeds while I was at uni, but I never considered any of those "home". They were just places I satyed while I was at uni.

This is true for me as well. I didn't include #1.

Lived 10 places, 5 of which I'd call home:

•Croft Road, Forres (Scotland)

•Magdeburger Straße, Weeze (Germany)

•Berliner Straße, Weeze (Germany)*

•Barbour Close, RAF Odiham

•Current digs in Basingstoke

*Identical flat to the one on Madgeburger - one street behind - back when that part of Weeze was allocated to Forces families that didn't live on-camp at RAF Laarbruch. The area consisted of large rows of identikit blocks of flats.

6 plus 3 different houses whilst at Uni, but don't consider them a home.

So:

Streetly - Parents

Uni - Sheffield

Back to Streetly - Parents

Holloway - With the Doris

Wood Green - with the Doris

Enfield - With the Doris

Walthamstow - With Doris

Walthamstow - with different Doris.

Why were you in Germany again? I forgot.

Presumably in a military family.
