villan-scott Posted July 8, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted July 8, 2012 Sturridge isn't likely to come here, he has too much of an ego as has been stated. Could see him somewhere like Liverpool or Arsenal, he wouldn't take a step backwards to us IMO. Have a feeling there's something in the offing early this week, there seems to be a buzz about Villa at the minute and I love it.
CI
sturridge's wage demands would be ridiculous He's not a high earner at Chelsea He'd be on about 25-30k a week Would probably want 35-40k though which may rule us out
Houlston
Isnt he on 50k-60k?
P3te
when he joined them originally he was said to be on that, but he signed an extension worth £50k a week well out of our league, and not worth that kinda money at the moment *edit* on googling that, it would appear my brain made that up haha
CI
There will come a point though where he will need PL games or become a forgotten man (albeit a wealthy one)
sharkyvilla
I don't think Bertrand will leave now he has just broken into the Chelsea side properly and is rated by Di Matteo, if DM hadn't have been made full time manager then maybe. I'm not so sure, he isn't going to oust Ashley Cole anytime soon and his selection at left-wing for the CL final was a one-off. Playing as a first-choice left-back in the Prem has to be a pretty attractive proposition for him. Sturridge on the other hand would see it as a backward move to come here and may demand to be our top earner to even consider it.
FamousHolteUnion
Gabby is on about 60k a week. Give Sturridge his wage.
Ulver
If people took off their 'but he played great about 4 seasons ago' spectacles when it comes to Ireland. Even his biggest supporter would have trouble convincing themself that he offers value for money He barely creates an assist, he never scores and he doesn't change a game. For the reported 80k a week (even if Man City still some of it) that's a pretty pathetic return for the wage/fee If people are so desperate to cling to past form hoping he'll some how recapture it maybe they should start feeling the same about Warnock He was a good player once too
Mattyp_avfc
I wonder who we will go for as a Left back now then? Olsson? Vurnon Anita? Might throw a few names into the ring Ismail Koybasi Roberto Canella (linked abwt 3years ago) Emiliano Insua Lukas Schmitz Long shot but... Kieran Gibbs? Ulver
The problem with Sturridge is he comes across as an arrogant miserable tosspot 1. He's done nothing to have such an high opinion of himself 2. He's done nothing to show he's worth a reported 50k a week wage packet 3. He looks miserable even when he scores. Sure sign he's a bellend to deal with No thanks
