AVFCforever1991
Can i just remind people he ain't the first Morrocan we've had at the club, we have had Hadji and Kachloul. Then we also had Alpay, so this is not a massive issue, he will do whats best for the club. Alpay was Turkish not Moroccan, but still see your point. legov
Frederic Kanoute refused to play in the Sevilla kit when they were sponsored by a gambling site (888) because of his religion. Let's hope it won't be an issue with Genting and El Ahmadi That's also why I won't buy a villa top because I'm muslim and feel it is wrong to advertise a casino. Just buy the Acorns one, looks better anyway imo

irreverentad
Karim El Ahmadi likely play next season in the shirt of Aston Villa. That the midfielder will make the move from Feyenoord now seems only a matter of time. The Moroccan is very much looking forward to playing in the Premier League. "I think it is time for me to step to a great competition. The Premier League is fantastic to be able to make it soon. Soccer against clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal, I look forward "said El Ahmadi opposite the newspaper. According to the 27-year-old footballer, the transition is not yet final round. "But I trust that I play next season at Aston Villa," said El Ahmadi. "Aston Villa is a nice club. I will miss Feyenoord, but nobody will blame me I want to take this step." http://www.soccernews.nl/news/160044/El_Ahmadi:_Ik_kijk_er_naar_uit_om_tegen_Engelse_topclubs_te_spelen?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed
omariqy
Ramadan will begin around the 25th of July and end around the same time in august. Exactly when does the season start? could affect his preseason if he insists on keeping to it. 20th July and ends 18th August. Sighting of the moon permitting. El-Reacho
It's good that Villatalk do a thorough due diligence exercise on potential signings before we sign them. We've covered his footballing ability, value, fluent languages, nationality, religious beliefs, and dress sense. Does anyone know if he has a decent looking bird? :-)
BOF Posted June 27, 2012 Moderator Share Posted June 27, 2012 Judging by his dress-sense he doesn't have a bird, but an over-bearing mother.
Morkery
I think fasting is less of an issue than the boozing and over indulgence a lot of british players seem to have a problem with.

Stevo985 Posted June 27, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted June 27, 2012 Can anyone shed light on the physical effects Ramadan can have on a footballer at this level. Have his performances dipped in previous years? Steve Bruce signed an Egyptian defender for Sunderland a while back and was asked if the player would be fasting during Ramadan - he said he'd no idea what it even was. Ramadan has effects on people at ANY level who fast so I would assume professional football would be off the cards completley in all forms. you are basically not allowed to eat, or drink, or smoke, or listen to music, or anything impure at all until sunset. (Not even water to the lips or anything). Ppl are usually miserable as fcuck during this period around the normal workplace and work is usually cut down from 8 - 6 hours per day here. Ppl basically flip the night and day around out here (Qatar). I played Sunday League with a few lads who fasted during Ramadan and it did effect them on the pitch, they just didn't have the energy required to compete as they normally would and that's just Sunday League! Would shudder at the thought of signing someone in a similar position..... Yeah, now that you mention it, Demba Ba did struggle at the start of the season just gone to be fair... Amo69
So if he has a slow start to his Villa career are we going to say its because he fasted? You boys are hilarious.
Villastine
I know the majority of posters are just taking the piss but this Ramadan debate is not that funny. Most athletes who choose to strictly observe Ramadan do so with the benefit of special nutritional programs to counter dehydration in daytime training. Many choose to eat on competitions days and substitute days in terms of fasting. It has never had any effect on Yaya Toure or Karim Benzema’s level of performance. SikhInTrinity
http://tinyurl.com/85jfo2l LONDON - Ronald Koeman understands that Feyenoord midfielder Karim El Ahmadi Aston Villa to let go, he told after the first training of the new season. The midfielder is already around the club from the Premier League. The Rotterdam travel next week with a delegation to England to negotiate the transfer fee for the Moroccan. "Karim is not the cheapest guy in the selection. I understand that you have to let go and also for the amount I've read everywhere, "said Koeman on the 2.8 million who called. Otman Bakkal and John Guidetti El Ahmadi went before. "These are of course good players, but last season left Wijnaldum, Fer and Castaignos too." Koeman seems to await the arrival of Omar El Abdellaoui. The Norwegian striker has yet to bite objection with Manchester City and then probably let to the locals. A successor of El Ahmadi Feyenoord has also been on the eye. The Norwegian international Harmeet Singh Vålerenga is followed by technical director Martin van Geel. By: NUsport / Charlie Boatman .
