Bloody hell we're a third into the season.

what if we win the FA Cup and finish 4th?

What if...Scarlett Johanssen personally offers to escort me to the match with the promise of a night of untold pleasure at the Hyatt to follow?

Because that, frankly, sounds more likely at this point.

How can people possibly say no??

I still wouldn't anyway, I have felt for a while that i don't get value for money when I go to the games, this was under MON, Houllier and McLeish. Every season, I think I can normally remember one, maybe two really good games at Villa Park.

Unrealistic yes, but you can see his point?

His point seems to be based on the belief that McLeish is still some kind of cupwinning genius, based on what happened with Small Heath. It's weird how nobody seems to remember how supernaturally lucky their cup run was, culminating in a final with a mentally fragile team who were right on the brink of a long slump.

How's our Carling Cup campaign this season? Oh, right... Possibly our one performance which trumps the Spurs and United games for shittiness, against a team now in 19th.

If the point isn't based on the idea that AMC is some genius biding his time for cups, I don't know what it's based on. What on earth makes you think we can finish 4th or win anything? You may as well ask 'What if we win the Prem?' We have identical points and goal diff to SHA at this same stage last season. 'What if...' is no point at all.

What if you get tied up and your ST is the only thing nearby, and you flick it onto the deactivation button of a nearby nuclear bomb? Won't that make you want to renew?

No - 70% football, 30% money.

First the money

Not because I cant afford it, as even if I couldn't, I'd find it, but as a long term season ticket holder, I am sick to the back teeth of getting the raw end of the deal. No game has sold out, and is ever likely to, every game has a deal on, and there is just no reason to have a ST anymore. It is cheaper to go game by game.

Then the football

I've seen the dark days of McNeill , O'Leary (and I know people say GT2 but that is TOTALLY unfair. GT is a hero at Villa Park and was totally stitched up by Ellis. If you remember he gave a live TV interview on Central spelling it out how poor a state the club was in - do not blame him, blame Ellis).

However, through those dark days, at least I enjoyed going. But this is woeful. I did not even get out of my seat in the first half on Saturday, it was that dire. I am not going to outlay 900 quid for utter dross.

Since 1983, I have missed 5 home games. 2 as I had no choice (Sheff Wed Coca Cola Cup in around 2000 and Man City home in 2002) . This year I've missed 3, Hereford , Bolton and Wolves - for no other reason than I couldn't be bothered to go. So lets face it, if someone who went to 530 out of 532 games can't be bothered to go anymore, how many others aren't gonna go.

AND I HOPE SOMEONE FROM THE CLUB IS READING THIS !!!!!!!!

Are you for real?

The point stands.

To say in DEC you wont renew due to 'the football' is idiotic.

No it isn't but to even imply that we may win the FA Cup and finish 4th is idiotic.

Is this a wind up

4th from bottom and an embarrasing exit to Bristol Rovers is more likely to happen

Yes. I'll be a Villa supporter until the day I die and my weekends would be pointless without my trips to Villa Park.

I am getting extremely fed up with the whole McLeish saga, rubbish football etc. I really hope that things improve and hopefully we will soon see the back of McLeish, as he clearly isn't up to the job. Then there is the whole issue of us not having enough money to compete. The sad fact is that we can't compete as it isn't an even playing field nowadays and we are now a mid-table side at best.

However, football is my life. I'm one of those sad people who lives, sleeps, eats and breaths football. I was at Villa Park yesterday and sat there before the match just thinking how amazing football is and how great that feeling is when we score.

I can understand why people may want to stay away as these are depressing times and difficult times (on and off the pitch). I will continue to take my trips down to Villa Park though, for as long as I can afford it.

I think you are lucky that your heart has a very understanding and tolerant mind.

Unfortunately my Heart wasn't so lucky, after years of listening to excuses for not being able to pass, trap and move the ball and being lucky enough to see Villa Players that could like Cropley, Cowans, Shaw and Little and then witnessing comittment from Gray,Withe, Taylor & Teale... my mind now feels like someone is taking the piss.

This situation we are in is not a result of Man city or Chelsea and their millions, it a result of a succession of poor purchases and rank bad management.

Of course it is not easy, it hasn't been easy for Stoke or Swansea or Newcastle or Everton.... even Spurs with their attractive geography have been in the doldrums until they appointed a manager who knows what he is doing and has an eye for a player.... don't half help with a few shillings thrown in.

Managers do need time and everyone points to the time Alex Ferguson had, but the difference is folk who knew their football knew somthing was being built.

Perhaps if the same is happening with Alex McLeish perhaps a little insight in to it would reassure us a little.... because as sure as my eyes have not let me down in the past, they are telling me not to hold my breath.

I have four season tickets for the family and with a very sad heart will not renewing next year if things don't improve. Irrespective of how much Randy Lerner has invested I think he has gone from an owner who respected the fans to one who has basically stuck up two fingers to us!

Yes we're a third of the way into the season and it's absolutely dire.

Tell me why you think it will get better given his track record?

4th place and win the FA Cup - welcome back General.....

With a heavy heart I have voted no because of the football under McLeish. I buy two adult tickets for myself and my 15 year old son. I buy two adult tickets so I can take friends if my son does not want to do so that's £1,050 the club will not get off plus I don't think the mate I go with and his son will renew either so that's another two.

I'm lucky in that its not a money issue but its sheer torment seeing the rubbish served up at Villa Park now. I had no enthusiasm for the Man U game at the weekend as the outcome was just so so predictable and very little I saw changed that. We gave it a go in the last 20 minutes but beyond that I watched a seemingly demotivated bunch of players go through the motions. I can't help but think a better manager would get so much more out of the players some of whom IMO are not at all bad.

Whether I can resist renewing come April time I don't know but as of now its a definite no. The other thing that pisses me off is with all the offers you could see all the game for less money!

It's actually "the football" that I go to see Gingerlad, and it's probably below Conference standard at the moment.

To be honest lots of people drifted away under O'Neill and Houllier,

Really? I'm sure a few did but on the whole attendances were way up under O'Neill. 2005/06 under O'Leary 34,100k average. Mon years - 36200, 40000, 39800, 38600. The last season including a shit load of cup for fans to fork out for as well. 08/09 was the first time we'd averaged over 40k since 1950. The 3 years between 2007 and 2010 was the best run of attendances we'd had since 1949 - 1952.

Even under MacDonald/Houllier attendances were still 37100k.

Under McLeish however we will see a huge drop off. I'd think we'll average around 33k.

i still think the comment is fair - I've had a season ticket for 7 o r8 years now obviously including all of them under MON and i said if he was in charge for what would have been his 5th season i wouldn't renew and i didn't, the day he left i got one thought i'd give it a try under a new man but MON was sucking th eife out of me, so i gave someone else a chance - on the whole it was probably worth it - the west ham at home under McDonald and Man U at home last season were two of the best performances I'd seen since BIg ROn - we looked liek we'd score on every attack.

Houllier overall was OK - still made crap deciswions like MON but played way better football and you felt that maybe if he'd have got rid opf teh players that he wanted to things may have benn OK, perhaps?

Out of habit i renewed this season - i was disgusted by the appointement of McLeish not becasue ex blues but purely on the shit football but i thought i'd give him a chnace - i won't bother if he's in charge next season unless something remarkable happens.

I'm sick of crap rubbish boring football since Big Ron, the second half of DOL's first season, the second half of MONs second seasson and teh Brian little years the football has been garbage and unless we get someone who'll play OTT attrcative football centred aropund youth, attacking exciting football I won't bother again - I'll always love Villa but why should I spend my money to watch shit?

I don't blame Lerner other than giving MON way too much control, being scared of standing up to him and the debacle of the last managememt process.

I could understand teh logic in Martinez (similar kind of tippy tappy football as Houllier - youing enthusiatsic and basically everything that McLeish isn't).

I'm always willing to give McLeish a chnace but let's be honest most peopel expected this kind of failure - logic suggested it was going to go this way.

I too finished under O'Neill despite the good results away from home the football at home was lacking in quality and a bit desperate at times.... and I got fed up of moaning about it and spoiling other folks enjoyment ,so I threw the towel in.....It is markedly worse right now and I don't see it changing, but I will be pleased if it does.

I have seen nothing so far to lure me back.
