snowychap
So Yates has gone, too. Two of the most senior coppers in the land resign both claiming that their integrity is intact and having had digs at the politicians and the press. A couple of the most senior figures in the News Corp/News International stable have resigned and been arrested, one of whom has had a big dig at the coppers. Politicians have been putting the boot in to the police and the press (and of course each other) but no resignations yet. Scandalous and rather fascinating stuff. veloman
I wonder how long it will be before someone suggests that 'The Illuminati' are behind all this ! It is starting to sound like something out of "Atlas Shrugged" - anyone read that ?
Rodders
saw adocumentary on rand recently, which made the prospect of me wanting to read that book about as appealing as eating a shit sandwich, when there's a normal sandwich right next to it and im not even remotely desperate for food. veloman
about as appealing as eating a shit sandwich, when there's a normal sandwich right next to it and im not even remotely desperate for food. An interesting simile; so perhaps more of a Jane Austen/ George Eliot fan then :winkold:
Chindie Posted July 18, 2011 VT Supporter Share Posted July 18, 2011 Atlas Shrugged is a hateful book. Absolute literary garbage and run through with vile politics. As for Hoare's death- I take the immediate 'he was killed' reaction with a hefty dose of cynicism on any of these scenarios, but this one particularly so. He was apparently quite quite ill after a life (prescribed by the NOTW funnily enough) of booze and drugs, and hadn't got into the story much after his initial whistle blow it seems, which art the time was obviously given short shrift. TheDon
Atlas Shrugged is a hateful book. Absolute literary garbage and run through with vile politics. As is anything by Ayn Rand in general. Ayn Rand fans should be round up and removed from the gene pool for the good of humanity.
Gringo
Hoare's previous evidence (Dec 2010) No charges in News of the World phone-hacking probe No charges will be brought following a probe into phone hacking at the News of the World, prosecutors have confirmed. The director of public prosecutions Keir Starmer said there was no admissible evidence to support claims public figures' phones were hacked. An ex-reporter on the paper refused to comment to police about claims he made in the US that his former boss Andy Coulson knew about the practice. Tory communications chief Mr Coulson denies knowing anything about hacking. Mr Starmer said former NoW reporter Sean Hoare refused to co-operate with police over claims he made in the New York Times that the practice was more widespread at the UK newspaper than had been previously admitted. He said: "A number of other witnesses were interviewed and either refused to co-operate with the police investigation, provided short statements which did not advance matters, or denied any knowledge of wrongdoing. ...more on link How much did that all cost (Rupert), I wonder?
