Xann
Richard Crandell - 'In The Flower Of Our Youth' Pressed privately when it was first released 30 odd years ago, it's only just made it into the digital age. CarewsEyebrowDesigner
neutral milk hotel - in the aeroplane over the sea. just picked it up in hmv a few days ago (2 for £10, elliott smith's either/or being t'other), having loosely recalled it being mentioned as a good album to me a while ago. must admit i completely love it now. slightly bonkers, but in a good way. must admit i panicked during the start of the second song (those that know it will understand) but i get it now, and i couldn't recommend it enough, especially for those looking to see where bands like arcade fire got their inspiration from. either/or is pretty good too. theboyangel
I'm another one listening o the Mark Lanegan Band album What do you think Bicks??? On first listen, it's not as good as Bubblegum but it's certainly a grower!! Gray Goes Black, Ode To Sad Disco and Tiny Grain of Truth are really decent! bickster Posted February 18, 2012 Moderator Share Posted February 18, 2012 I really like it, it opens up in a Lanegan does Nick Cave kinda way, which I really like Yes Ode to Sad Disci is good, I also really like the Muddy Water song, (track 2)

Lanegan had the best voice in grunge with the Screaming Trees - shame they were overlooked so much by other bands of that era!

GarethRDR
Just given Grail's "Deep Politics" a first proper listen through. Superb stuff, bookended by it's strongest moments; and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8qxC67Ud1s. Had I actually gotten round to listening to it on release, I'd probably have had it down for second best album of last year.

GarethRDR
Utterly useless trivia 'That' main melody section from Madgascar (for which the track is it most widely known for) was not part of the original song at all. The famous riff was written by German duo Cygnus X (of 'Superstring' and 'The Orange Theme' fame) for of the original track. Simon Berry's (the man behind Art Of Trance and founder of Platipus Records) original 'Madagascar' bears little resemblance to almost all of the remixes/versions that have followed, it is far more progressive and (if anything) is closer to the "Goa" sub-genre of trance music. Ferry Corsten's remix became the most popular version off the back of heavy play from DJs and is often erroneously considered the original version. Ironically, Corsten's version and the original have about one riff in common (Corsten uses the main riff from the original as a intro/building riff in his remix).
