GarethRDR
Been meaning to delve a bit deeper into Brontide. Heard "Jura" off a BSM sampler, me likey. Drummer used to be in I Was A Cub Scout, n'est-ce pas?
kingysilvers
Indeed! Although I Was A Cub Scout isn't a reference point I'd use for them. There is clearly a strong Minus the Bear influence but a lot heavier (they are signed to Holy Roar after all), I'm trying to think of a suitable "heavy" math rock band to draw a comparison to but I'm failing. This is why I failed as a music journo .

GarethRDR
So to summarise, the three key terms I am now associating with Brontide are; "Minus The Bear", "Holy Roar" and "Giraffes? Giraffes"... any one of those alone would have piqued my curiousity, now I just have a full-on stiffy. To the online webstore!

thecraft
Amplifier - The Octopus 2 hours long, definitely something different! Musically they span the gamut from follky acoustic moments through heavy metal and into deep Prog without ever getting too far up themselves. They even manage to use a William Blake text (The Sick Rose) without coming off as pretentious – not an easy trick. Review
