barry'sboots
Darren Bent is not on 82k a week. £65k a week for his football and a further £17k a week for his blog on the OS. That Faulkner is a mean negotiator!! :winkold:
BrummieVillan
So who reckons he'll actually stay until next season? I'm skeptical, I love having him here for now though that's for sure.
juteface
16 games for Villa and 10 goals last season. He's a class act, I reckon he'll have a good record this season, possibly a personal record might be broken too. If N'Zogbia settles in and starts showing his ability and Albrighton picks up his form then he could be banging them in. We're in a much better position this season compared to last. R.Bear
I kind of forgot the OS existed or tried to anyway. Our OS really is one of the worst in the Premier League.
AdamLL
As long as he gets the service he will be happy and a happy Darren Bent can only be good for Villa.
TrentVilla Posted August 27, 2011 Moderator Share Posted August 27, 2011 He got little or no service yet again today and those who think this isn't a problem are kidding themselves. Even McLeish just admitted that we didn't create enough for him and even admitted that Bent was a frustrated in the dressing room which is hardly a surprise as he looked it all game today and on Tuesday. Dodgyknees
Strange thing, Sunderland have bent who is their goalscorer and sell him to a team who have better creative players, Bent looks incredible so it gets to the summer and Sunderland use that money to buy quality creative players but cannot score as they sold their best striker and thus miss the goalscorer they had whilst Villa now sell their creative players and are stuck with a problem of finding it hard to create. villianusa
We will certainly need to create more for him throughout the season or he will become extremely frustrated. a goalscorer wants chances no matter if they score or not. Either purchase a new attacking mid or get Bannan or Ireland inplace of Heskey. It could have been so much better if Petrov had laid the ball in to him and not shot early in the game. Bent had laid the defender and Petrov just didn't see him. He would have been clear in on goal.
dudevillaisnice
Agree with Trent, I was at the game and it was very evident that he was getting frustrated.. McLeish did NOTHING to sort this out. If it carries on like this Bent will be off next summer in my opinion.

AstonMartin82
There were a lot of people on here saying how over-rated he was and how they didn't want him at the club before he signed. He is quality and I believe the only reason he isn't playing at the likes of Chelsea or Man Utd is because of how Harry treated him and that infamous comment of his. I fully expect him to finish the season with Villa, though if he hits 20 goals this season he'll be at another club next season. Randy's eyes will light up with $$$. villan501
McLeish - Bent frustrated Check out skysports regarding Benty. If Lerner does nothing about this he is finished at villa
Zatman
We never created any chances for him today which was disappointing except the half-chance Bannan gave him
VillaAlex
It was strange, whenever Bent was in the box we couldn't get it to him. But when he got some good crosses in he was never there. Heskey of all people is getting on the end of everything.
slowandlow
bent was the one putting dangerous crosses in on a couple of occassions - we need him in the box feeding off scraps
markavfc40
Darren has scored plenty of goals in worse teams than Villa and will score 15-20 for us this season. It should be remembered that we have lost two of our most creative players in Ash and Downing, Nzogbia has hardly had a pre season and is still getting up to speed/settling in and Albrighton when he plays looks out of sorts. Gabby put a number of excellent crosses in today and I'm sure once NZogbia gets up to speed and if Albrighton can get back to the form he showed at times last season the chances will come for Bent. It would also be nice to see another winger brought in but that looks unlikely.
hercs23
the solution to the lack of supply to bent is simple. nzogbia on the left and gabby or another winger on the right instead of the other way round because they have to keep cutting back on to there better foot giving defenders a chance to track bent better. nothing wrong with them switching for a while in a game but gabby needs to be in the box as well to cover for bent

Probably due to frustration as when we did have chance to play him in we didn't. You could see he was getting frustrated when the likes of N'Zogbia and Petrov were taking shots, but tbh they had every right to. It's strange as after every game he doesn't score now it seems that "he'll want to leave in Jan' and so on. I hope this won't be a regular occurrence, it could get boring. Yes the service isn't great right now, but as you said Albrighton and N'Zogbia aren't in form/fit right now and when they are Darren should get more opportunities to score.
