Where you bloody bin Ruge? Nothing for months then I find you in the dogs topic.

Things OK? Nice to see you back.

Off Topic has missed you!  On Topic - well I have no bloody idea about that!

I don’t post as much these days as Limpid refused my application to become a Mod .  Yeah things are great tbf and we have a dog now, so it made sense 🙂

Hope all is well your end

Nice dog . I wanted one, but the missus said no. Our house is probably not ideal for the breed anyway. 3 loud kids, a cat and we also have a french bulldog . We will probably get another dog in the next 12 months .

A week now since we brought her home and she's settled in really well. Considering it's pretty likely she was used for breeding, someone has looked after her. She's been great with the kids and is good with other dogs too, albeit a bit exited when she sees another dog but good when they meet. Plus squirrels and bird, she'll go for as soon as she sees them, so it will be a while until we can let her off lead. It get you thinking, how she ended up as as a stray?

We originally said that we wouldn't have her on any furniture but she's part won that battle as we've allowed her on a bit of the sofa with a throw on. She likes to test her boundaries with us.

She is smaller than she looks in photos. We didn't see a picture of her before visiting as the centre contacted us before she was advertised. I was almost a little disappointed when she was brought out. She's about Staffy size. We'd have taken anything up to a mastiff or rottweiler but she is probably the right size for us, with the youngest not quite 4 yet.

Has anyone in the Solihull/North Warwickshire area ever used a dog behaviourist and could recommend someone?

I’m having some issues with my Cavapoo, who has suddenly started being massively aggressive towards other dogs.

Started with a couple of larger male dogs and I put it down to a bit of fear, but it’s getting worse and he’s having a go at every dog he sees now, even one’s he’s met loads of times before.

He was absolutely fine for the first 12 months and he was well socialised, having met well over 100+ dogs out and about.

No other signs of aggression at all, he’s soft as anything in the house and just wants fuss all the time. Fine with other humans too, just going mental at other dogs for no apparent reason.

A little french bulldog had a nip at him a couple of months ago and I can’t tell if it’s come from that, but it’s becoming a major issue.

A girl I went to school with runs a dog training business. It's called Pawfect Dogsense. I think it's based in Kings Heath.

Actually checking their website it appears she's handed the business over to somebody else. But she was apparently rather good. She had her own TV series on channel 4 for a bit (Puppy School)

So they might be worth checking out

Around where I live there's a lot of Staffordshire Pitbull Terriers. I like them. They generally like me as well.

But I've never quite figured out why some of them become so beefy and muscular. There are some that are very slim and good looking dogs, and then there are some that look like a belgian blue. I assume it's not only genetics.

I'll say this though, they can be a pretty head strong breed, and for some reason a lot of beginners are getting this breed during covid and it's noticeable, cause they have no discipline over their dogs. Which is scary cause they are pretty dominant and imposing when they want to be.

Our dog is quite possessive of his toys and if he’s earring something he shouldn’t be. For example my lad left a bag of sweets on the floor in the garden. I went to take them off the dog and he kept going for me, like proper nasty. He’s great with other dogs and with people but it’s something we are trying to alter with him. He’s only 5-6 months old.

As for your dog, maybe that incident with the other dog triggered something. How old is your dog? I’ve known some dogs get a bit funny when they start getting to old age.

He’s only 16 months.

It stands a chance it was that, but it’s really weird. Yesterday he went mental at a dog he’s met, more than a dozen times before.

I’m gutted. Firm believer in ‘no bad dogs, only bad owners’, but I can’t work out what’s happened or if we’ve done something wrong. Socialising was probably the thing we concentrated on most.

I’ve got someone from Sutton coming over on Saturday to take a look. I booked him before I saw @Stevo985 post.

It’s going to cost me a fortune, so I hope it works.

I’m sure you’ll sort it and it’s worth it .

Uploaded this from my phone so apologies it’s not on the right kilter, but this is a Rottweiler/German Shepherd cross I’m dog sitting for this week. Couldn’t go on the family break because of her temperament and is a little sensitive to loud noises (fair enough) my sneezing (meh okay) or my standing up (pray for me)

Does anyone have any kind of cctv system they'd recommend for keeping an eye on their dog whilst they're out? I've seen some of the newer Alexa/Echo devices seem to have a camera mounting function which might work.

If you’ve got a tablet and a phone, there’s a few apps that work well.

I used one with a previous rescue dog we had who didn’t like being left. I set my iPad up at home and it links to your phone while you are out. It comes on if they bark and sends you a notification or you can open the app whenever you want and it switches the camera on the iPad so I could see what he was up to.

‘Dog Monitor Pet Watch Cam’ was the one I think.

Precisely why we're looking to get something as we're looking to get a ex-racing greyhound. It wouldn't be left alone often as we both work from home but I'd want something for when we did leave it.

Will take a look at those apps.
