Dodgyknees
So if City are bigger than us because of stadium, finances, management, players... Bournemouth are bigger than Firest and Southampton are bigger than Leeds. Right?
Zatman
So Fabian Why did you join City? Delph: Its been my life long dream to be a quota at a big club
Dodgyknees
If he signed his contract without the clause, and City came in with a bid of at least double the 8 million, we'd have some consolation but this situation is frankly bullshit. If that happened, and there were no comments about loyalty, I'd say good luck to him. But acting like he is doing us a favour? He is quite simple a word removed.
samjp26
Could've been a club legend, no doubt the summer transfer thread in 2 years time will be full of posts explaining why we should re-sign Delph.
Xann
Not at all surprised. Since that abject cup final display, he's had an agent whispering "That's all you'll get at Villa. Let me dull the pain."
samjp26
After Sherwood made him captain as well, with us already really in need of some leadership. Even if you look at Gueye as a replacement for Delph, we need another CM now too, preferably one with some stature and authority. Gutted about this, sums up the Premier League in a nutshell.

ThunderPower_14
So we avoided relegation by the skin of our arses and now our best 2 players are going or gone. The squad is starting to look pretty bare across the board.

He didn't have to do it, he would have got a higher salary as a completely free agent , the 8 m has paid for his replacement.....how many other players have signed a new contract with 5 months left on their old one? Even with Richards and Gueye coming in we are way worse off than last season so far, we need a few more signings.

Popular Post markavfc40
I'm hugely disappointed in him. It's crap like this that makes you wonder why you bother investing your time, money and most importantly your emotions in these players when they can say one thing one day and do the complete opposite a few months later. I don't begrudge him his move to Man City but after what he said it is so hard to swallow. It is not just about Delph though is it. Man City is now a huge step up from Aston Villa. We are not even remotely close to them as they are in a different stratosphere. Where as only 4 or 5 clubs in this country were a step up from us not so long ago you can now put that figure in double figures and for this club with its fantastic history, tradition and fan base that just can't be right. We were already effectively down Cleverley. Delph gone Benteke going People were worried about how Sherwood might go in the transfer market. If he's not good, we're absolutely ****. We're pushing shit up hill to tread water at this stage.
KSV
Meh. Doesn't do enough anyway. Assists goals etc. Gueye will be more than adequate replacement

VILLAMARV
no worries ladies and gentlemen and all you inbetweeners. Just gotta shift that Benteke chap now and knuckle down for another relegation scrap without everyone saying our squad is better than it is and we should be mid table Cheers for not leaving on a free Fabian. Im gonna go and celebrate the fact that we made a small profit on an Oneill signing
Rugeley Villa
im very surprised by all this considering the way he spoke about us and how much he said he loved it here, plus will he even play that many games there? this old bigger club thing is bullshit but reality is they will pay him a lot more and they are a club who are going to be one of three clubs who will probably dominate english football for a while and add to that will challenge in europe. i should not be surprised but i feel a bit let down by his bullshit.
