As long as we appreciate little Barry (which we do) that's all that matters I guess. **** everybody else. :)

Thats exactly it. Lets not get annoyed at our young guns not being over hyped, lets not alert the sky four. Albrighton, Clark and Bannan are doing the club proud this season so far. I hope it continues. Wee Barry certainly seems to have caught the managers eye. Thats a few times he has spoken very kindly about him!

I didnt see the game yesterday, but a swedish reporter that saw the game said that "Barry bannan dominated the midfield and he tought villa had a great future with players like Bannan and albrighton"

I was quite surprised to hear those words from him so Barry bannan must have been very good yesterday..

Which reporter said that?

Great pass for the goal, no doubt. And I think he was very good over all in that game. Had some good moments against sha too when he came on the pitch. We can have a real gem here. The young guns coming through at the moment are showing some real talent.

Tony McAndrew was overjoyed at seeing Villa's youngsters sparkle on the Barclays Premier League stage on Saturday and insisted: "We're all so proud of them".

Four graduates of the club's renowned academy system - Marc Albrighton, Barry Bannan, Nathan Delfouneso and Ciaran Clark - made key contributions in the 1-1 draw at Fulham.

Two other young lions - Eric Lichaj and Jonathan Hogg - were named among the substitutes.

It was the first time Bannan and Delfouneso had started in the top flight, while Albrighton and Clark gave further evidence of the great strides they have made.

All six players developed under McAndrew's tutelage at youth level before progressing into the reserves and then the first team.

Villa's U18s coach said their achievements made it a proud day for the academy staff.

McAndrew told AVTV: "Saturday was everything this job is about for us.

"Seeing so many young players you have worked with in the youth team, seen come through the reserves and end up playing a Premier League game for the first team, that is what really gives us a buzz doing this job.

"I was really, really proud on Saturday - as all the academy staff were - that we had so many youngsters starting the game."

McAndrew is particularly thrilled by Bannan's progress, having witnessed first-hand the impressive attitude and dedication of his fellow Scot.

He said: "You had to drag Barry off the training ground. All he wanted to do was practice and hopefully he keeps some of the same attitude.

"He still comes back with the reserves when they are doing some technique stuff in the afternoon, as all the young lads do, and they have got to keep doing it.

"You don't get anywhere without hard work and Barry has worked hard to get himself as big and strong as he can.

"He is not a massive lad but he has certainly improved the physical side of his game and his engine is fantastic - he can run all day. I am really pleased to see him in the team."

Gerard Houllier has told midfield maestro Barry Bannan: "Keep your feet on the ground and you can be a star."

The plaudits came flooding in for Bannan after an enterprising display on his first Premier League start in Villa's 1-1 draw at Fulham on Saturday.

It was the 20-year-old's sublime diagonal pass that set up Marc Albrighton for the visitors' goal - a strike Houllier hailed "a different class".

Bannan continues to impress his new boss, who selected him for Carling Cup games against Blackburn and Burnley, as well as introducing him from the bench in top-flight clashes against Tottenham and Birmingham City.

Houllier believes the Scottish midfielder has the work ethic to match his wonderful vision - and feels Bannan will be a big hit with the claret and blue faithful if he maintains his focus.

"I'm pleased that people notice his passing because sometimes it is not recognised," said the manager.

"The first game I played [against Blackburn] he was on the left, then he played against Burnley, then in the derby.

"He's a hard-working player and I think that he will definitely improve.

"Remember his name because if he keeps his feet on the ground - and we will make sure he does - maybe at some stage the fans will chant his name."

Houllier also acknowledged the contribution of Stephen Ireland, who combined well with Stewart Downing after coming on as a late substitute.

"I was very pleased with Stephen Ireland," he added. "He came on, it was difficult and he delivered some passes that could have brought a goal.

"He was brilliant when he came on and it was not an easy context for him and he did well."

Exciting times!

--------------- Siegrist ----------------

Lichaj --- Clark --- Davies --- ?????

------------ ???? -- Delph ------------

Albi -------- Gardner -------- Bannan

------------- Fonz/Gab ----------------

A young side of Villa Youths plus Delph and Davies (I know he is a bit older!) that just needs a holding midfielder and a left back. I suppose we could go 4-4-2 but I prefer the 4-5-1 formation.

Not sure whether Baker, Carruthers & Halfhuid can slot in anywhere.

Though I suppose you mean "specialists", Baker and Lichaj have both played left back before, Lichaj and Clark can play in midfield, and Halfhuid can play right back, centre back, centre forward, so I'm sure there's some way to fit just about everybody in. Might not even need Davies!

We have a lot of left feet, too. Just from our youth, Bannan, Delph, Baker, Clark, Lowry, I think Carruthers, that Daniel Johnson who made the bench in the LC, maybe more?

Atm, that looks like an incredibly weak side. I presume this is all assumption that these guys will be any good. Atm one or two are showing signs of brilliance, but there hardly setting the world on fire like top notch players did at their age

Some guy from Liverpool who barely plays gets a call up, Bannan mentioned

_49853361_bannan282.jpg

Liverpool defender Danny Wilson will be given his first call-up to the Scotland squad when it is named on Thursday.

The 18-year-old has only made one appearance for the Reds since his £2m summer transfer from Rangers - in a shock Carling Cup loss to Northampton.

But Scotland coach Craig Levein will include Wilson in his squad for the friendly against the Faroe Islands on 16 November at Pittodrie.

Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan is also certain to be in the party.

Levein hinted at a call-up for 20-year-old Bannan earlier this month as he looks to experiment in Scotland's only international ahead of the Euro 2012 qualifier against the Czech Republic at Hampden next September.

Bannan has broken into the first team with Aston Villa this term

Bannan had been a regular with Scotland Under-21s and has broken into the Villa first team this season, making seven appearances.

Wilson has only played for the Under-21s on five occasions but is now in line for a step up to the seniors after he and Bannan were absent from Billy Stark's squad for their friendly with Northern Ireland on 17 November.

The Livingston-born defender broke into the Rangers team in October 2009 and nine days later, against Unirea Urziceni, became the youngest player from Scotland to play in the Champions League.

Wilson helped Rangers retain the Scottish title and win the Co-operative Insurance Cup, leading to him lifting national young player of the year awards.

However, he rejected the offer of a new contract at Ibrox and moved to Anfield in the summer in a deal that could rise to £5m depending on appearances.

So far, he has been restricted to one outing despite Liverpool's difficult start to the season under new manager Roy Hodgson.

Wilson made an inauspicious beginning to his own Reds career as they lost on penalties in September to League Two side Northampton after a 2-2 draw and he was an unused substitute in last week's Europa League victory over Napoli.

Scotland will host the Faroes looking to build on an acclaimed performance despite going down 3-2 to world champions Spain at Hampden in their Euro 2012 qualifier in October.

The Faroes will themselves arrive in Aberdeen on the back of a creditable 1-1 draw at home to an in-form Northern Ireland.

What is Barry doing?
