Dodgyknees
I am starting to believe in Bannan more and more, I never thought he would make it, now I am doubting that statement and think he could be a decent player for us and who knows how much he could progress. PauloBarnesi
Sample comments from the Redcafe match thread tonight: Bannan was something tonight, Villa have got a gem there. Villa thoroughly deserved the win and it could have been more emphatic. They were far more cohesive, incisive, worked harder and had the outstanding player on the pitch by far in Bannan. 0-2 Bannan with the assist again. Looking a player alright. Gill got done like a kipper there Bannan is a monster. a lovely goal from that beckham wannabe scottish villa winger I quite enjoyed the biased MUTV commentary tonight. Lets just balance those out Osbourne looks a decent player, think hes been out on loan a few times Villa look to have some very promising youngsters Salifou and Delfouneso have both looked excellent IMO
AVFC-Prideofbrum
Saliiiii!!! On the reserves report, it says Delfouneso's wonderful cross field pass to Bannan.

smetrov
He seems to me to me to be a David Platt, or Even Gerrard type player.Which is exactly what our midfield needs. I reckon GH will sense this to
Tomaszk
Houiller coming in will set him back a long way I think. Especially if KMac leaves.
truskietiger
Haha, PauloBarnesi. Yes, I did notice the Osbourne comment, but to be fair, at this level (and in the Championship when he was on loan) he does look ok. The other comment was quickly corrected by another poster. And neither of those comments detract from what was said about Bannan, who I thought played very well tonight and did look like he might have that extra something about him that might enable him to make the step up. barry'sboots
Bannan, Gardner & Ireland - plenty of excellent options for the ACM to play behind Gabby. Just need to sort the holding role(s) out.
DiegoD
He looks good , hopefully he can actually get some game time, would much prefer him playing behind the striker to A.Young.
GaztonVilla
Houiller coming in will set him back a long way I think. Especially if KMac leaves. I think they exact opposite, to be honest. GH's focus with the FFF has been youth development. He won't suddenly forget about that when he comes to BH.

Based on what? Very strange Probably based on that age old philosophy that it makes sense to play players in the position that they have played all of their career. I know that this could seem strange after MON's reign!
Rob182
I'm still not sure about Bannan. He seems great at reserve level but he's yet to prove he can do anything at a higher level. His goal against Vienna was decent but it was nothing special, it was more of a team goal and half the credit should go to Albrighton for getting the ball into that position. I'd like him to prove himself in the Prem but I'm not sure whether he is still a bit lightweight against Prem opposition.

PeteStan
Guys, I was wanting to post something really positive regarding Villa and the really excellent performance by the reserves last night and guess I should do that elsewhere. But to keep on topic; I was there last night and Barry Bannan was absolutely outstanding running the game from the left flank but and also appearing all around the midfield. This is a player with real vision at this level who on this evidence is, like Marc Albrighton, ready to step up to the next level. One worrying thing for me last night was the number of scouts in the main stand (including a watching Gary Speed) all making notes and recording marks for the players. They couldn't have failed to have noticed Barry's impressive performance. However I guess noone is going out on loan at the moment until Monsieur Houllier has time to assess what he has got. Well done Barry and all those other promising Villa youngsters. After a dreadful summer for the Club and what was an ulitmately depressing trip to Stoke earler in the week, it made me proud to be a Villan again. Rob182
Bannan definatly has something about him, there's no doubt about that. The issue will be whether he can step up and perform against Premiership opposition. When I've seen him in the Prem he has looked a little lost. He has great feet but maybe he needs to get used to the speed of the Premiership to see if he can use his feet when under pressure. I wouldn't be opposed to him going out on loan to a bottom-half Prem club.
brady08
Very promising for Villa, when a young player produces a performance like this. The kid looks like he has serious potential and I am sure will be involved more regualrly in the first team squad this season. Building a very good young side at villa at the moment and when delph comes back that is another exciting prospect.

Or rather where we might be heading if we can't sort things out quickly. :? If we do end up in a battle at the bottom then a young player like Bannan should be kept out of the firing line. i dont think we will. I would like to see him loaned out as well, sign him up for a few years first though, ffs.

The original point i was making was that I dont think Ash is the right player for the role Kmac is trying to use him and i'd rather see someone more specialised there.
