AVFC-Prideofbrum
KPB is off to Italy. Didn't Lerner jet off to Milan yesterday or something? :!:
beasley14
KPB is shit. He's not shit, Sidwell is shit. He's also pretty young.
steve-67
It's interesting that one good win means we don't actually need to strengthen? We desperately need a goalscoring midfielder and a forward. We won't move any further up the table this season without adding extra quality. I pose the question, what happens if Ireland, Gabby and Ashley get injured? Where are the goals and the supply coming from? People are correct, Sidwell is pants, he adds nothing, we do however need strength in depth. The kids are good but we still lack extra class. AstonMartin82
I'd like KPB - he'd be a very useful addition to the squad. Also, whoever mentions selling Heskey needs to understand that we can't give Heskey away. Why? Because the amount he is owed on his wages until the end of his contract far out weighs his true value. For this fact only, even if we said he can leave on a free he wouldn't accept any offer from another club as they would only pay him half the amount, if that, of what he is on at Villa. As such, we would have to pay him to make up the short fall of his wage deficit. It could cost us millions just to get rid of him... and if that is the case we may as well keep him in case Gabby and Carew both get injured. If he was worried about first team football then he might be willing to take the financial hit to leave, but let's face it... he is in the twilight of his career... what he makes now must support him and his wife and kids in the life style they have come to expect for the rest of their lives. I can't blame him for hanging around rinsing Villa fans of their hard earned cash but I can blame whoever gave him his ridiculously over-inflated £60k a week. Thank you for listening. SoccerHQ
I think the only area where we are really short is central midfield. Delph won't be back until xmas so considering we're going to be playing every 3-4 days for the next 3 months it's a big ask to expect Milner/Ireland, Petrov and NRC to stay fit for the two spots. I really am not considering Sidwell as an alternative as a) he's shite and I still expect him to be sold. Upfront, yes a new striker would be nice but if we're going to only play one upfront which I actually want us to then we have enough options, Gabby, Carew, the Fonz, Weimann and Heskey. Defence is o.k aswell, certainly enough CBs, Luke Young staying now I take it and he can also cover LB with Beye and Carlos as the other RBs options. islingtonclaret
KPB is no donkey, I think he'd be a great addition to the squad. From what I remember at the WC he looked up to the job. Sidwell is, even though this won't be big news to some, a big steaming pile.
Reality
KPB is off to Italy so there is no point in discussing him coming to us.
dudevillaisnice
Can't we loan some players out? get some £££ that way also lowers the wage bill a bit for a while if the club is prepared to pay something towards wages.
DANVANDAL
I know its all a bit crazy at Villa Park at the moment but would you have bet we wouldn't have sigend anyone by 17th August!!!

Even if O'Neill was still here. On the subject of KPB, can anyone tell me why they think he's actually good? It seems to me he barely shone in a team of shite that went down with ease last season (even without the points deduction they'd have gone). Doesn't really sound like the kind of player I'd want. villa4europe
I kind of agree, i think he shone at the end of last season and at the wc cos he knew he was in the shop window, imo he's certainly not good enough for milan Would be a good player on the bench and twice as good as sidwell, but something tells me he wants to be a big time charlie, would want too much money and a role bigger than him

I just think if we're after players to play the attacking midfield role, and we're looking at someone who played for a shit team who were relegated, I'd be expecting them to come out of the that season being raved about in every section of the entire world. As such, he just wasn't. He performed at the World Cup, but that's not enough to justify buying him. I think he'd be average at best for us. Would much MUCH prefer Stephen Ireland. Qwpzxjor1
I think Boateng was excellent at Pompey. He needs to pick him level well though, he will want to be playing first team football, rather than getting ideas above his station that he can play for Milan and rotting on their bench until everyone forgets about him. LoughboroughLion
Now that martin oneil is gone, and wealthy owners potentially coming in for rovers, i feel that the time is right for big sam to do his thing. After he has bought a few donuts he can then get back to football. He should raid villa. Martin oneil was a deadball specialist and big sam is also a fan of the aerial threat and blackburn have one of the biggest in the premiership along with stoke and villa. Now while turmoil is present at villa i think we should buy carew and heskey. They already know each other and will add to the aerial threat. Also ashley young can be tempted aswell because rovers won the premiership once. young has pace and can play on either flank and put the balls in for the aerial threats. i believe if this happens europe is a realistic possibility. http://tiny.cc/tjwwo HOW STRANGE. They can have Heskey though!

I'd much prefer Ireland too. But KPB would be more of a Sidwell-replacement IMO. He did get relegated in a poor team. But so were Milner and Lennon IIRC.. nepal_villan
How about Ireland, Maradona and Neymar (16M Milner Money + 13M extra). Talk about making a splash.
bearwoodvillain
Not so sure about KPB... He had a good world cup and was the best player in a poor portsmouth team last season but he's been in England since 2007 and hasn't done much... Anyway this is all a moot point as he's currently training with AC Milan.

Troglodyte Posted August 17, 2010 VT Supporter Share Posted August 17, 2010 I hear they have competition for his signature in the form of Huddersfield. They won the league three times in a row once upon a time, so Rovers will probably lose out.
