The baggies are interested in Sidwell!

And Albion are also very interested in Villa midfielder Sidwell after taking Nicky Shorey from their neighbours last week.

The former Chelsea star was lined up for a £2m switch to Fulham earlier this summer.

But the deal was aborted when boss Roy Hodgson quit for Liverpool.

Villa are still willing to cash in on Sidwell, 27, to get his £48,000-a-week salary off their wage bill.

But Villa are reluctant to sell another star to their Midland rivals and Sidwell would prefer to run his contract down as he will be a Bosman next summer.

They can have him for £2m and he can be told to do one!

Aston Villa have made an approach for Polish international winger Kamil Grosicki.

The 22-year-old has won three caps, and impressed with his first division club Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Villa officials have now spoken with Bialystok president Cezary Kulesza about Grosicki, who is under contract until 2012.

Italians Chievo, Turkish champions Bursaspor and Greek side Aris Salonika are also interested in the £600,000-rated player.

'I've had calls from various clubs, such as Aris FC and most recently Aston Villa,' Kulesza said.

'But for now all I've done has been to answer the phone - we have not yet received anything official in writing.'

Grosicki began his career with hometown club Pogon Szczecin, and had spells with Legia Warsaw and Swiss side Sion before joining Bialystok in 2008.

Suppose he's a gem that our scouts have been watching for sometime and identified? you never know, you do reaise that if two of our wingers get injured we only have 1 in Albrighton right? Get out of MON mode people, the game is about options and rotation!

Doubt it very much. We won't be signing anyone until the manager comes in. Ireland is obviously different, but this is a whole unique situation.

For £600,000, he's exactly the type of player we need. Someone cheap, unknown, will have patience and bide his time to get into the team, fairly small wages.

We need cover in positions and options to change it without spending much money. So never seen him but he's the sort of player we should get, take a risk.
