Thankfully it's not 100%. It's an England victory. The Gods are not that cruel, trust me, they appreciate hard work.

And yet we have grifters in charge of the country.

There is pretty much no chance of play tomorrow and at a push maybe get 2 or 3 hours on Sunday. I'd imagine 20-30 overs at best. Looks a nailed on draw which is a travesty for England. Madness that it is the end of July and looking at losing pretty much two full days due to rain.

Great day at OT. Shame Jonny was stranded but is 99* better than a century in the banter ashes? Strange that Wood didn’t bowl for ages but seems Stokes got it right as he nipped a couple out. Woakes was magnificent as ever (with the ball!)

Rainy day to recover tomorrow (for me!) then back there again on Sunday! Next wicket crucial as Marsh was looking solid - different animal though with a whole (rain affected) day ahead of him whereas it was a simple task to bat out tonight.

Forecast was for 3 hours of rain today and we had about 20 mins. Hope the pattern continues on Sunday.

Weather can change, just got to hope for the best. According to the met office there looks to be a break for 2 hours around 5pm, depends on how wet the outfield gets though if it’s been hammering down all day.

England couldn’t really have done too much more to have won this, Woakes’ no ball wicket which cost 17 runs and an extra 20 minutes or so aside.

Might only need an hour in difficult conditions to rip through the Aussies, please let it be so.

Looks like it's going to piss down all night and all day then all night again  hope looks forlorn except of metoffice get it totally wrong but that's unlikely. Groundsmen will be up all night whty there super soppers.

We coukdnt have done any more but British weather strikes again. Lucky Aussies

I think the commentators get access to more advanced weather forecasting than we do. They seemed a bit optimistic about a bit of play over the next 2 days.

Met office and BBC Weather don't look so good though.

We’ve lost this series because of brain dead declarations

We haven't lost it yet.🤞 Who knows, perhaps global warming will kick in and we will somehow get 60 overs in during the next two days, and manage to get those last six wickets? If we don't get the win that we do so deserve, then we can always win the last test and square the series. Lets hope that for once it isn't always raining in Manchester.....

Met office now showing at best a 50% chance of rain between 4 & 5 today and then 60%. Tomorrow 50% for an hour at 3pm and 80% either side of that. The ground staff will work miracles to get 20 overs in, but that could include two 90 mph 4 over bursts from Woody. 🤞

I’m still so angry about that first declaration in the first test. Honestly, I’m a big cricket fan and I’ve never been as pissed off as that. Awful management

The first declaration  made no effect on the defeat it was entirely justifiable as a calculated risk, we might have got 20 more runs or we could have got one of them out. Far more consequential was all the drops, Barston being a shit keeper and some stupid batting shots when they were doing baseball without brains, see also test 2.

But we evidently should have been more.aggressive in the final hour Thurs night or declared at lunch yesterday

Nonsense. Sorry. But it is.

Why on earth would you take a risk in the first test of an Ashes series when your best player and best batsman in the world is playing well and still at the crease?

It may well have been a calculated risk, but it was a f***** stupid one.

Then, fast forward to yesterday. We’re 140-160 runs ahead, whatever, and we decide that it ISNT the right time to declare? When the Aussies are bowling one over every 10 minutes and the forecast is dreadful for the last two days? Where is the calculated risk then?

On the balance of play, we should be drawing, if not winning this ashes series if it weren’t for stupid decisions by McCullum in the name of ‘entertainment’.

Really frustrating.
