Those who aren't voting should at least go and spoil their ballot paper.

Now in the first past the post system, I would agree with that and often take that course of action BUT and this is a HIUGE BUT, under the PR list system a spoilt paper or abstained vote is a vote for the BNP imo. I couldn't possibly vote for any of the three Tory parties, nor can I vote for the Gay Drinkers Alliance, so as a result of Nazi Nick standing in my constituency I have to vote for the Tree Hugging Party as they are the main rivals for the BNP to get the last seat the way the list system works. It's part of my make up that when faced with a fascist // National Socialist type candidate I have to vote in order to prevent them getting elected if nothing esle and an abstention in this election is an aid to a BNP seat and a seat is a victory and a platform

I agree with you mate. I was just stating if people feel that strongly, they should spoil it instead. I know apathy is going to let the BNP in, which is why people must vote. I know I have done my part in the East Mids :) and likewise with you :)

Lib Dems for me. A good result here could give them some extra credibility going into the next GE, and if we can move as far as possible away from this wretched de facto 2-party system that we have now, then that would be just marvellous.

Fairplay to UKIP, after the train wreck that was Rober Kilroy Silk they are now poised to do well when i assumed they were going to implode. Still nasty right wingers though.

To stay on topic i'll be voting 1.Indo 2.Labour 3. Green 4. SF in the Irish local & Euros.

But don't get me wrong, all politicians are words removed.

Interesting that the VT vote count probably wont match the vote count in the unreal world ...

Not sure what that says about us on here ?

Mostly young, educated and idealistic, the natural constituency of lefty type parties.

I reckon it's the reality/idealism interface that generally moves people to the right of politics, hence older voters often being more inclined towards 'right wing' parties. Not a hard and fast rule obviously (MJ, Drat etc) but often older lefties have deep seated reasons for being committed to socialism, such as a life in academia or maybe having met a miner once :winkold:

For the first time ever I voted Green, partly as a protest against the main scumbag parties and partly as I agreed with more of their policies than the other minority parties.
