Stevo985 Posted August 2, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted August 2, 2017 More explosive trivia. In the Vesuvius eruption of 79AD, some of the victims would have been killed by a Pyroclastic flow, basically a super hot cloud of gas and Ash that flows down the side of the volcano at up to 450mph. The heat of these flows from Vesuvius was such that it would have vapourised the victim's flesh and boiled their brains, the resulting pressure of which would have caused the brains/chemicals/insides to be ejected from any available orifice. A volcano caused by a volcano, if you will.

Popular Post Chindie Posted September 4, 2017 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted September 4, 2017 One of the most dangerous objects in the world is the so-called Elephants Foot, a large blob of molten glass, concrete and radioactive material under the reactor at Chernobyl. It's effectively a form of solidified lava caused by the intense heat and radiation from the disaster. It's so radioactive that only briefly, seconds, being in it's presence will make you noticeably unwell, and much longer will leave you fatally irradiated. It's also so radioactive that it's believed it's effectively dissolving the floor it's on. Worryingly, Chernobyl is above some water caverns, which eventually it could break through into, which in turn would have it's own obvious disastrous consequences.

I imagine the date and the amount of goals (and the era) are no co-incidence. I'd say there were plenty of sore heads and wobbly legs on the pitches that day. You could always spot the players who were hungover (or still pissed).
Mark Albrighton Posted October 5, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted October 5, 2017 4 hours ago, BOF said: The day it rained goals. Just read a little bit more about this. Apart from one of them, all the reverse fixtures were played two days later. The results were - Aston Villa 4-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers Blackburn Rovers 1-3 West Ham Bolton Wanderers 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday Chelsea 1-0 Blackpool Everton 0-3 Leicester City Ipswich Town 4-2 Fulham Manchester United 5-1 Burnley Sheffield United 1-2 Nottingham Forest Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 West Bromwich Albion A paltry 34 goals across 9 matches but in addition to the first ten fixtures it gives a nice round total of 100 goals.

Fastest English* top flight hat-trick. Below is officially the fastest hat-trick ever in top level domestic league history. Jimmy O'Connor for Shelbourne away to Bohemians, in 1967. 2 minutes 13 seconds. Guinness say they wouldn't have recognised the record had there not been video evidence. * Eduardo Maglioni of Independiente is alleged to have scored a quicker hat-trick (1m51s), but that was never made official because of a lack of verifiable evidence.
