You'd think there'd be plenty of takers for Bertie and Chambers, depends how willing they are to play a bit further down the league table or at a lower level.

Interesting that Emery is suggesting players have to leave before we can buy though. If we go into the second half of the season with Cash as the only recognised RB and no decent cover for Kamara, then we might come unstuck...

If Dendoncker leaves, would like us to look at Argentinian Guido Rodríguez of Real Betis, available for free in the summer, or possibly a low fee this month.  Linked with Atletico and Milan.

I don't think Dendoncker will leave.

Other teams only want our best players, who we don't want to sell.

The problem is, we haven’t been clever in terms of the wages/contracts we’ve handed to players in the past and other clubs can’t afford to offer them anything comparable… I think that’s the main sticking point and problem… that’s why see or hear about so many loan offers too where we are still paying a portion…

Some players are happy to sit on a decent wage that they can’t really get anywhere else and most of the clubs who’d be interested can’t offer them comparable or appealing wages to make that permanent move…

Chambers yes, to a lower league side needing a defender but probably loan, Bertie potentially Saudi as he's a full on sick note made of glass

Not quite, I think if others move over and above these two we will consider getting someone in

Sounds like Traore and Chambers are surplus to requirements, if they leave nobody will be coming in to replace them.  Anybody else leaves though they will be replaced.  Sounds like Emery is happy with the squad unless some backups leave.

I don't know, have you seen him play in the last 2 years to think it's sensible?

I know hw doesn't play much at City but he is always in the England set up and is a very good player. Him and Kamara

would form a very strong midfield base and therefore allow Luiz to pla in his best position. We don't really have that

option at present. Wouldn't be the worst option for sure

1). No it doesn't, loss of revenue goes into accounts.

2) More than speculation. It will impact atmosphere as we have less fans and a stand missing which means less noise and atmosphere.

1) People have said that Liverpool wrote their lost revenue off, maybe it's not true.

2) Still speculation - of course the atmosphere would be reduced somewhat, by 10%? How does that correlate into performances? Pure speculation.

Where is this quote from as he doesn't say the 2nd part in his press conference on AVFC TV

He said if they leave then in that situation we can add one or two players

How is that a good thing for us?  The longer Newcastle are held back the better.  As rich as our owners are, we aren't outspending oil backed state sponsored sports washing clubs.

It's not good for us unless of course NSWE were willing and able to pump as much into the club as Abramovich did at Chelsea and Sheikh YaMoney did at City.  It would at least make it a level playing field for all clubs, and allow those with newly adorned with rich owners to do as they did.

That would not be good for the game though, but neither was allowing some clubs to spend freely and then stopping others from doing so, thus distorting genuine competition.

My point was more about bringing the likes of Chelsea and City back within the limits that other clubs of similar size and history have to deal with,  rather than the artificially inflated revenue streams they now have.

"Sounds like" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

Thought Phillips stood out against the postmen and sparkys of Moldova

It's a couple of weird narcissists who are hilariously ill-informed. They literally post the same bollocks every other post. Wouldn't worry, they don't deserve your respect.

Informed debate is welcome by most of the site.

A couple? There’s only one….

Surely Kalvin Phillips on loan would be a sensible move

Definitely not. He's either injured or bench warming.

He'd be a terrible option, inflated wages for someone else that has huge limitations in his game. Bielsa broke him physically and Pep broke him mentally, especially claiming he couldn't find a role for him. He's lost the best part of 2 seasons and just isn't what we want. Playing for England means nothing whist Southgate is in charge. imo of course.

We couldn’t be in safer hands with King Unai… better than all the rest…
