Summer Transfer Window 2023

I'm kind of more relaxed in terms of another striker signing now we have Zaniolo (yes I know he's mainly a CF/No.10, but I think he'll do a job IF Ollie goes down with a short term injury).

I'm also fully trusting UE's judgment.

That said, I'm still baffled as to why we've not done anything at RB, especially with Young leaving.

The only thing I can assume is that we're planning to play with Cash as an inverted wing back/RM as per Burnley on a more regular basis. I don't think defensively we're great shakes down the right, and if Cash gets injured we could be in real trouble, shoehorning CBs and midfielders into that spot. Fullbacks are amongst the most specialised and key positions in the team these days.

Ok… I think Lenglet would be decent for us under Unai… Konsa probably more likely to spend more time at RB…

Would expect him to be better for us than he was for Spurs…

As long as he doesn’t kick up a fuss if he’s not first choice… as cover… it only makes us stronger… can fill in for Mings’ absence for a season then probably move elsewhere…

Unai clearly wants a team/squad full of players that pass the ball well… seems to be the main priority. Technical prowess is a must…

In that context… kind of surprised if we stick with Olsen though… but it looks like we are…

We want a strong and competitive squad.

Yeah I think the fact Chambers has had zero minutes so far might speak to what Emery is thinking. Konsa and Cash are the RB options.

Torres and Carlos then our CBs so we are light there. Chambers just backup utility player for bench. CM, CB and RB cover only

More like they are trying to fob off to us or the media thinking Spanish manager Emery only wants players from Barca.  None of the deals seem to happen so I’m thinking it’s not from our side.

Agents using our name to get attention

for those who say that we can easily replace Ollie, I'd strongly argue against that. He probably starts for at least 3/4 of teams in the PL... Manchester United have spent almost 75m on a highly rated but not proven striker from Serie A & loaned in Weghorst as their #9 competition last year. If that doesn't spell out how the striker market is, not sure what will

Lenglet is the profile of player that makes sense to sign on loan given Mings is out. Not too enamored with him myself - and am a bit wary of it becoming a habit that Monchi signs previous players - but as cover for Torres/playing in the Conference League or lesser teams in general he'd be fine you'd imagine. I mean he isn't literally crap is he - he's played significant games for Sevilla, Barca and has been capped 15 times by France, as back up players go that's doing pretty well.

Seeing Iheanacho seem so close to going to Palace I can't help but think he's got to be one of the few out there that fits that mould being spoken about on previous pages of a perfect back-up to Watkins. Though £10-15 million might be a bit steep if you're only signing him to play that role, and given the lack of minutes at Leicester he'd possibly prefer to be first choice at Palace anyway.

Does he still play for France or has recently?

Must have some attributes besides good passing…

Tbf, rather we bring in someone like Lenglet than Bednarek or… Nat Philips etc.

To be fair, we have been linked to many but Zaniolo was the only former Monchi signing was he not?

Diaby, Torres, and Youri were not.

I suppose you could argue Tielemans is the only player we've signed this window hat hasn't worked with either Emery or Monchi before. But yeah doesn't bother me.

Well it's loose that Diaby worked with Emery. He was a kid training with the first team at PSG for a few months that's it.
