Newcastle signed Bruno guimares in January last season I don’t even think they were top 10, they then convinced botman one of the most promising centre backs in the world to sign this season. We have Unai Emery, we have the money, we’re about to appoint barcas sporting director. Anything can happen

They both came from middling french teams without anyone else in England seemingly interested enough in the price they would cost. Therefore throw an inflated price tag on them and give them wages noone else would offer and you have your unreachable players. Basically what we did with Kamara. You can get players that good if there's still a question mark over whether they can do it at a higher level. Once they've been in the champions league or the prem there's no chance.

That's the difference between signing players from Juve and Barca instead of Lyon and Lille imo.

I'm not so sure. Look at Newcastle with Isak and Botman.

We are a team clearly on the up, with ambitious owners and a top class manager. I wouldn't be surprised if some of our "in Europe" targets were signed regardless of where we now finish.

Don't get me wrong, I hope you are right.

Before we all go mental (and it's hard not to, right?), I reckon that our finishing position will have a major effect on our signings this summer. I'm fairly sure we will have an 'in Europe' and 'not quite there yet' list of potential transfers. The first list is very exciting. The second will still be good, but we'll struggle to attract some of the big names, I suspect.

Were already in the European Super League.

Every player wants to play in the premier league and money talks.

The absolute disrespect leaving Benni McCarthy and Royston Drenthe off this list.

I feel much the same about Paul Gascoigne, Dennis Bergkamp, Steve Bull, Gary Lineker and Frank Lampard, to name but a few.:D

Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if some deals aren't already over the line, especially the likes of Guendouzi, regardless of where we finish.

Think you might be right about Guendouzi. It just fits so nicely given the things he's said about Unai in the past, and how he would be perfect for our system.

All I need for this summers transfer window is Villa Report, and alcohol.

No idea what's gonna happen. There's going to be some disappointments. But it's going to be fun. And - the adults seem to be in charge now!

I'm excited to see what will happen in this window but I don't think I'll be following along, not sure if I'm in a minority on this thread though haha.

Just looking forward to no football for a couple months to catch my breath and try remember other hobbies I have.

You tend to get that with alcohol.

Ivan Jaime. Famalicão. Hola.

Positioning and movement reminds me of El Ghazi for some reason.
