Wingbacks don't tend to play the wrong side for their stronger foot, as they can't clear a ball down the line with their preferred foot. They either use their weaker foot and likely mishit it, or use their stronger foot but the ball curves out of play. In this instance it's Aston Villa, the club. You wouldn't say "The club are delighted", that's just shocking English.
