Funny how our moto is  prepared and Emery is the master at being prepared, match made in heaven.

I bet his Mrs hides under the stairs if tea is not served at bang on 7pm each night and his veg are not al dente and his steak rare

Quite apart from the - frankly astonishing - improvement of pretty much every player, and the revolution in tactics, we shouldn't overlook the morale factor under the Emery regime. He's got the players believing themselves and trusting each other. There is a very palpable team spirit about the squad, with Dibu's "I'm a believer" and Digne's "Another one!", Kamara's "Fortress Villa Park", Bailey's "UTV!", etc.

OK, it's a lot easier when you're on a winning streak, and the real test will come when we hit a bad patch, but right now, my favourite bit of every match is the video of the team coming back down the tunnel at full time - big grins, fist pumps, high fives, Buendia in the group, with Ollie's arm round his shoulder. It gladdens the heart. And McGinn has taken on Ty's Mister Motivator captain role far better than any of us could have hoped or expected. We seem to have no prima donnas, even the fringe players are doing their part without complaint. And it all transmits itself back to the fans.

Smells like team spirit all right. Thank you Don Unai.

Sir Alex has always had a soft spot for Aston Villa. Villa Park is also one of his favourite grounds (probably because he hardly lost there), and he is also a huge huge admirer of John McGinn.

The full interview of McGinn was really really good.

Nice bit of insight on Emery with John saying he's good for days off letting the squad have time away, but when you're in at the training ground you're there to work.

"Intense" he replied when asked to describe working with Emery. Also said something like "You match his intensity or he's made it clear he'll bring in people who will"

Great stuff. Especially the days off. He's not a nutter who expects 24/7/365 focus, but when it is time, you listen, learn and work.
