Thank f*** club football is back.

Opted for Spanish again tonight. Bilbao-Almeria, with the home side (my newly adopted Spanish club) already 2-0 up and playing some really clever football.

Hard to believe two years ago we were above Arsenal comfortably in the league and looking better long term prospects than Spurs.

Two top 4 teams playing today.

Two years ago?

We last finished above Arsenal 26 years ago.

We beat them in Feb 2021 and this was the table after the game:

Aston Villa 1-0 Arsenal: Keeper Mat Ryan concedes 74 seconds into Gunners debut - BBC Sport

4 points above them with two games in hand so we had a real chance to finish above them in the lockdown season.

When you see they started Bellerin, Holding, Cedric Soares, Pepe and Lacazette v us there wasn't much between the 11s either. Ultimately we lost Grealish and they've signed very well in last 18 months.

Later that season I can remember us going to Spurs and winning 2-1. They had Ryan Mason as caretaker, fans were booing them off at the end and Kane was in tears thinking that was his last ever Spurs home game.

Again they kept Kane and quickly ditched Nuno for a proven CL standard manager and flown back up the league.

That Saliba looks like he’ll be a top player

A few of us wanted him a couple of years back, what arsenal have seemingly done really well is shipped out all of their bad eggs and he was one of them but it looks like his loan has sorted his head out (nice loaned him and todibo, 2 potentially good players who are also bad eggs) even with the likes of gendouzi they cut their losses

Still think that a lot of arsenals problems was in their heads, they were never as bad as lad bible made them out to be whilst everyone laughed at them

The current Arsenal side are the second best team in the country.

Southgate trying to shoe horn Saka in as a LWB is ridiculous, he's making a case for being in the front 3 ahead of Sterling by every game.

Martinelli improving every week so can certainly see Arsenal finishing above Liverpool and Chelsea this season.
