Surprised at the very reasonable prices Newcastle are getting their transfers. Must have some good negotiators.

getting some solid players in too.

Soucek is bang average. He looks good if you look at his goals column, but he’s not a good technician, isn’t quick and isn’t agile. It’d be a really poor signing.

I don’t for one second believe we’re interested, luckily.

but effective.

I think soucek is the engine of a very good team. He is strong on the ball and effective in front of goal.

I think we are missing a bit of muscle that a player like Soucek could bring in.

I always rated him highly.

Would love it if we swooped in and signed Ekitike. The kid looks class and it would piss off the Newcastle fans.

Win win.

we've already done that with Carlos

Could be £51m, could be £151m. Preece has no clue.

I’m sure he was on some shite podcast yesterday saying that we want the likes of Connor Gallagher, a backup LB and a striker if the right one becomes available.

easy tiger......Luke Robinson is a good guy, who is the main man on UTV podcast.....met him going to the game, nice fella and Villa bonkers, what is there not to like?

Its entertainment and light hearted, from very committed Villa Supporters.

I would have gallagher all day long.

In two seasons you would hope that Archer would be (at the very least) our second striker.  In the meantime Ings has a better understanding with Emi2 and Couts and makes better runs for them to play balls through to.  13 goal contributions in 22 matches is decent.  Assuming we buy a proper Number 9 whose main focus is on scoring goals - having Ings coming off the bench for the last 20 or if we need to put 2 up front to chase a game is decent.  We don't need him to play 90 minutes every week.  We don't need a workhorse up front any more - we need a poacher.

If we don't buy a new centre forward then I think we have a conundrum.  Can Watkins adjust to our style of play?  Not sure - for me he just isn't an instinctive player and I am not sure he will ever be on the same wavelength as our advanced midfielders / number 10s.  Can Ings play a full season as the main striker?  Again the jury is out but I would be extremely doubtful.

The extra CM is far more important.  But either this summer or next we need a striker who can lead us into European contention.  I am not convinced at all that Watkins or Ings are that person.  So from that perspective - I'd rather sell Ollie, whilst his stock is relatively high, get a good fee for him and keep Ings to play the back-up striker role.  I'd then also keep Archer at the club and gradually build up his minutes on the pitch so that next season he's our super-sub striker.  We'll take a hit on Ings at that point but there would still be a market for him.

I agree with this , Ings can stay but it’s essential we get that poacher forward like you say as we cannot bank on Ings but the problem is where can we find this player … we need a tevez, aguero type of no nonsense one touch bang finisher forwards… archer is definitely one for the upcoming years 🔥

Souceck isn't the midfielder we need. His passing is awful and he’d slow things up worse than Luiz and be counterproductive signing to the way we play.

Ah, but he scored a few goals about 18 months back. Watch the goal that Frankfurt scored in the EL semi final (home leg I think). The defending of a simple 1-2 by him and Rice was like watching Baker and Clark again. If that is what people think is a good defensive midfielder then I don't know what to say.

...for his name alone, we should sign this player....I know nothing of him.
