Summer Transfer Window 2022

Kondogbia would be a nice name signing.

He's having an OK season playing around half the matches for Atleti. Not a standout by any stretch but he'd improve us.

He'd have to be one of two midfielder signings for me as he's going to struggle to play 38 games at Prem pace after playing less often for Atleti. That said, some of the nasty streak from a Simeone side in the Villa would be perfect

Ideally, I'd like to see us go younger and maybe more ambitious for Tchouameni, but that's unrealistic. Kondogbia would show again we can attract those higher names, be great for Iroegbunam to learn from too.

Kondogbia + Bissouma would be a big change for our midfield and would allow Ramsey, Iroegbunam and Chukweumeka too still get good minutes

If it was just Kondogbia to come in, I'm not sure we'd see the step change we'd want from our midfield.

He was probably invited to the game by his friend Luis Suarez.  I think the likes of Kondogbia are out of our league for the moment.  Yes, Coutinho came, but was very out of sorts and is a friend of Gerrard's, so slightly different.  I don't know a great deal about Kondogbia to be fair but am pleased that we seem to be out there looking for players, if true of course as the tabloids love a headline!

Not saying the links are true, or that he would come.  But the Premier League is a massive draw for some players, especially someone his age, it might be his last chance to play in the PL.  Also we were in talks with Bentancur, so shows we are capable of at least entering discussions with players of that caliber.

Kondogbia is physical and technical isn't he?

Yeah, think he'd bea really smart signing for us. Still think we'd need an improvement elsewhere in midfield too but think if he comes in with somebody like Bissouma then suddenly our midfield is very very different and we can still get minutes to the youth. One older head in midfield is fine and probably needed.

If we add 5 29/30yr olds, I'll be feeling a bit different but Coutinho & Kondogbia with some 24-26yo signings in CM, CB and ST would be a good mix

It seems every time we're linked to someone half decent people claim that they're out of our league or that we have no chance of signing them, the same was said of Digne and Coutinho in January, we will almost certainly sign more players in the summer that people will initially think we have no chance of getting, it's what we have to do if we want to establish ourselves in the top seven or so clubs.

Lol maybe he’s a more matured player now. But still do not want.

Fair enough, each to their own.  He's better than what we have.  He was in the summer and he is still now and would actually play well in Gerrards system although we didnt know that in the summer.

Nico Schlotterbeck only has 1 year left on his contract. Would be a statement of intent to sign someone like him. Likely end up at Bayern or Dortmund but might as well try.

If only Bayern became a little worse than they already are, maybe every german player could stop having it as their life goal to go there.

Sign his brother too imagine if they had no chemistry in defence. 😂

Geoffrey Kondogbia doesn't seem to stay anywhere for very long, maybe there is an issue with his demeanor, anyone with any real scouting knowledge of this guy should speak up or forever hold there tallywacker.

Based on his performance against Citeh the other night, he would be a very good signing. Price is obviously a big factor but he showed all the attributes of what we want from someone to protect the back four. Was also decent going forward and rarely gave the ball away.

fingers crossed on this one.

His price has been going down the last three transfers, from €36m to Inter in 2015 to €22m to Valencia in 2018. Atletico paid just €15m for him 1.5 years ago. Shouldn’t be a high fee, he is 29 now after all.
