This guy seems ideal for us, a few have already mentioned him:

I would love Buendia too.

With those 2 our team would get a significant upgrade.

It’s also crucial that we sign a great player who is a specialist set piece taker - badly needed.

I’ve been banging this drum for a while now

Na, disagree and he would probably be too much out of our price range anyway.

With Saint-Maximin, he is a proven premier league player who would hit the ground running and not take time to settle in either.

There is no debate over who is the superior player and they are likely in the same price range.

Assuming we get a similar budget two our two previous he can be brought theoretically

Having never seen or heard of the first guy you mention, I think if it came down to a choice of the two I would go with Saint-Maximin for the reasons already highlighted.

Why? I just don’t get this logic. Why have we got to be spending half of our transfer budget on a player that plays in the same position as one of our best players.

Are we only getting £80m to spend this season then?

Abraham or Coutinho?

The price for both will be roughly the same by the looks of things - Coutinho will go for a cheaper fee but demand more in wages.

Abraham being linked to us, Leicester and West Ham; Coutinho to Everton and Leicester.

Coutinho

He's a striker also.

Competition is healthy and there is also scenarios we could play with two strikers?

Competition is healthy but you don't need 5 players for one position, as for playing 2 strikers almost no one does that for a reason, you get over run elsewhere or have no width.

The guy you have never seen or heard of is one of the best wide players in the world.

But that’s just it. There isn’t any scenario where we’ll play with two strikers if our central midfielders and wingers aren’t improved on.

Competition is healthy, sure, but wouldn’t it be better to sign players in positions we need to strengthen rather than sign players to compete with the best players at the club?

Neither - Tammy is not good enough for the money he would cost with better options available IMO. He reminds me of Frazier Campbell .

Coutinho is shot and passed it and again better players for us available for less or similar on their way up rather than down.

I count it as 4 if another striker were to join though?

Watkins, *New Striker*, Davis & Wesley.

Again.. all just suggestions of having two strikers.

Saint Maximin hasn't actually done much at all this season, for various reasons.  I'd say buying consistenly excellent wingers is about as hard as it gets when it comes to recruitment.

Covid/injury didn't help but from what I've seen he has Grealish like impact on them. Their results weren't that terrible when he had his absence end of November. Then comes back and they have best performance of season away to Everton. Then injured again but returns for draws with Spurs and Liverpool and win over West Ham. Will hopefully be the same for us if Jack ever comes back as can't underestimate the confidence one player on the pitch can give to the other ten sometimes.

You have missed out Louie Barry, he is actually coming through at the moment not just some random youngster.

Do you think Coutinho still has the drive and hunger for the game JV?

Not sure if i'm honest, last time I actually saw him play was last Champions League I think, and he was quite good?

In my view, my thinking was more along the lines of " type of player/position//pedigree " I would go for if given the choice, not so much the named players.

I know you love Tammy though. lol
