Ollie Watkins

This guy cost £28m, we knew when we signed him he wasn’t an elite striker and most likely never would be. What he is though is a good PL striker, fans can moan or they like about him but the reality is we would struggle to get much better without spending £60m + and even then it would be a gamble. He has been far more consistent under Emery and is key to how Emery wants to play.

So lets just not bother trying then.  Its not like teams havent signed players for cheaper fees. How much did toney cost?

How much did rashford cost utd?

Mitrovic cost fulham 22m

There are players out there that have excellent scouting networking teams can find these players. Its for lange emery and co to identify those players.

Im not willing to just stuck with ollie of he isnt scoring goals consistently. He needs competition to bring best out of him.

Yep, very little wrong with Ollie’s performance again other than missing a pretty easy chance at the back post.

He’s really starting to thrive under Emery I think.

Misses far more than he scores, including sitters. Rarely sees a pass, don't think I've ever seen him run off the shoulder of a defender, yet again we should have been out of sight today but he missed many chances, he works hard though I guess.

If your happy with continuously midtable finishes he is good enough. Players holding us back now remember, not the manager.

Rashford is a left winger that came from the youth team

Mitrovic has 35 Premier League goals in 122 games, Watkins has 30 goals in 92 Premier League games

Exactly they paid nothing for him that cements my point.

Mitrovic has more than ollie has in a less creative team this season

Watkins XG is 7.55 and Mitrovic is 11.76 this season so no Fulham have actually provided more creativity this season

Watkins has been involved in 9 goals and Mitrovic 12 this season and he has 3 penalties to Ollie Zero

Would take Watkins over Mitrovic any day.

I think they’d be a decent partnership with each other. Could work.

However to emphasise your point Ollie could do the mitrovic role but Mitrovic has never been able to do the Ollie role.

Exactly, Ollie is the more complete player and has a better goals to games ratio than Mitro in the PL over his career.

Funny thing was yesterday, the goal he scored was by miles the hardest finish. He seems to s**t the easy stuff up the wall.

Put it this way, if he was a Harry Kane-esque finisher, he'd be at Real Madrid and not B6.

How much did Haller cost? How much did Scamacca cost? How much did Fabio Silva cost? , Moise Kean? All cost more the Ollie with only 27 goals between them.

My post every week. Fans criticising a £28 mil striker for not getting hat tricks every few games.

If our new 1st choice striker came from League 1 or the Championship in the summer, this forum would go into meltdown about how it lacked ambition.

Trouble is, if we went and signed Toney from league 1, we'd would never have given him the trust and time to develop that Brentford gave him.

When Mitrovic was falling out with managers and spent an entire season on the bench and Fulham getting relegated as a result, we'd never have given him the time and patience to come back and do what he's done.

With Rashford we may find that young striker in Duran. But also we've had Archer we haven't been able to trust or develop in the way United did with Rashford.

The funny thing is, we've just signed a young striker from league 1 (the equivalent), lets see where it goes. Looked a good cameo yesterday.

Would love to see striker goal and assists totals across PL since Emery took over but too lazy right now. Maybe tomo. Suspect I'll find Watkins isn't that bad relatively. Goals have dried up for most teams. We were 6th for goals scored in table before yesterday since Emery took over
