Too scared and not enough time to investigate anything further than referring anything that can't be pushed away from another day, referred to a specialist or prescribed with something recommended on the NHS site. I can Google symptoms and cast the same critical eye as them so the only reason I'll go to a GP now is if I think I'll need to be referred. The not enough time point is key. I've been on a number of occasions and told that if I need to talk about more than one problem then I need to book another appointment. They only get a few minutes per patient. Some more cynical people I know have speculated that it's so they can get more private appointments in, however I'd imagine it's more to do with the overwhelming numbers a lot of the GP's now have to deal with. Four times the price, but no waiting time. And considering I go to the doctor once every 5 years, that's a cost I'm willing to take to speak with someone who knows more than what I can google. Blimey! How old are you?
Genie
Amazing stat Quote A recent US opinion poll showed as many as 49% of Republican male supporters did not want to get vaccinated. That’s an awful lot of people. Link to story where Trump is urged to encourage members of the Republican Party to get vaccinated

Another one of my pet peeves. I've banged on about it on here before, but it bears repeating. I'm totally sceptical about 'oriental medicine', but if there's one thing it does get right, it's the idea of 'treat the person, not the symptom'. Because of the above-mentioned hospital referral process, you always get shunted to a specialist. Those specialists know lots about their specialisms, but won't go beyond them. And they have little knowledge of the individual patient's overall health and history - they're not interested in that, they're just addressing the symptom they know about. If you want the other stuff looking at, you'll have to go through the whole referral and waiting list procedure all over again, to see a different specialist. So time gets wasted, and things potentially get missed. My missus gets this all the time - she's had cancer, and she has an auto-immune problem (rheumatoid arthritis). When she has any problems, it's likely that they are interrelated - e.g. sore joints and eye inflammations. But that requires different appointments (and waiting times) to see two doctors who will never confer with each other about a co-ordinated course of drugs/treatment. sidcow Posted March 15, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted March 15, 2021 I'm feeling a lot better today. Dropped a couple of paracetamol and had an early night last night. Got a good 9 hours sleep and woke up much better.

I am curious to find out why I've been contacted though. Maybe it's one of those where they have my height as 5.10cm instead of feet so my BMI is through the roof. My brother had his a few weeks ago and he's 34. Had it before my Dad who's 61. He asked when he was there and basically each person has a different list with people on. They start at the top and work down. It might be that the allocated amount for that person had an excess so they rang down trying to fill the slots at short notice and majority of people in front of my brother couldn't make it - so got to him quicker. Still weird he was that high up on any list though (although he does suffer with gout and has high blood pressure)
Genie
My sister in law has been called for hers, she’s 35 and no pre-existing medical conditions. She’s getting it before her mum.

My 59 year old parents and 60 year old aunt and uncle are all registered at the same GP and they only had theirs 2 weeks ago so I was definitely not expecting to be called this soon but I'm not complaining. sidcow Posted March 15, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) They have said that there is going to be a massive ramp up of vaccinations in the next few weeks so they will be making sure they've got the places booked in. If they are going to be doing 600,000 or more per day you will be seeing people in their 30's getting appointments. They are now talking about getting all adults done well before that June target. Moderna is coming on stream and I wouldn't be surprised if AZ are giving us more as well with Europe being such dicks. Genie
As I mentioned earlier, I work in a team of 12. 4 of the team are having vaccinations this week. It looks like the ramp up starts now.

Popular Post NeilS
For anyone who has their first vaccination coming up..........................................I am 45 years old and had my first Oxford AZ vaccination on the 6th February as I am on the clinically vulnerable list due to suffering from Sarcoidosis (inflamation of cells in the lungs lining) a number of years ago, and I am booked in for my second jab on the 25th April. Like others on here have already said, I too had a few minor side effects in the evening after I had my jab, like feeling lethargic and suffering from a sore throat and a headache. I took some paracetamol and went to bed and woke up feeling a little bit better in the morning, and totally back to normal within 24 hours of the jab.
KenjiOgiwara
Pretty sad what's happening now. Two more nurses admitted with brain hemo/major clots. Another nurse died last night from the same stuff. National PR conference now and they are not prepared for all the questions. The national expertise don't think it's batch related, but they didn't specify why. They didn't want to answer whether it could be different quality of product between the factory in Belgium reaching the Norwegian market and what has reached the market in the UK. It's fecking sad, but also very strange watching them not having a clue what's going on. And it's pretty clear they have no media training at all. Surely it's just petty political point scoring? Seems so unnecessary when the rate of clots is actually lower for those who've been vaccinated. Is this something completely unconnected? There have been millions and millions of jabs worldwide and nothing else similar had happened.
