Does he . . . does he think that three adverts and the front cover of a magazine that - let's face it - was mainly intended for the polishing of the rocket represent the best that British culture has to offer or something?

How will I ever get over losing [checks to make sure] a Pot Noodle advert?

Don't know about you, but I need my pot noodle to talk dirty to me to achieve a hard on.

Long ago we had a mini debate about sexism.

I said I knew someone that, as a kid, had been upset that Yorkies weren’t for girls and that it was mean that she wasn’t allowed some chocolate that boys could eat.

At the time, the general consensus on this male dominated ‘board, was that that was silly, and her problem.

We are all of us, edging towards greater understanding of others and this is a good thing.

It's a very good thing. We can all change each others thinking gradually. I think of myself as pretty 'right on' bloke but I'll still tell the odd joke that doesn't get the reaction. I'm all about the laughs because I'm an insecure blokes but there are a lot of things I've said in the past that I've slapped myself for. I mean, who remembers the 'whats the definition of slack?' jokes from about 20 years ago. Horrific now.

Their slogan should have been "Not for human consumption".

It probably won’t survive long term.

Again it fits into that bracket if you’re laughing at him for saying racist things rather than it being actually racist. But long term it will probably eventually be deemed inappropriate

Why long term and not now?  It's pretty cut and dried.  If you're going through some comedies then surely you have to do them all.

Maybe it will. It’s not really my decision to make.

I don’t think anything in the office is as bad as blackface or the scene from fawlty towers that’s being talked about but I’m not the demographic that would be offended by it.

Children don’t watch peep show. That’s why we have age ratings

Sorry, I'm out of the loop but wasn't the Snickers campaign still going a few years ago?

I can only think of 1 scene where it gets mentioned. The David Brent character is shown to be slightly racist when he says to the Asian man in the office “it wasn’t you, it was the other one”. To which the Asian guys says “the other what, paki?” To which Brent says “you can’t say that, it’s racist”.

It seems like there is pressure to pretend racism never existed.

'Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to share our grief at the rawest of times. Some said he was just an oddly porny marketing slogan made by HHCL Partners on behalf of a small part of Unilever's product range, but those who knew him recognised him as the best of us . . .'

Alright, I'll stop now.

I can't think of what you mean. The only one I remember, which is still going, is "you're not you when you're hungry".

Yeah, I don't live in the UK so I mean the bloke being a primadonna woman until he eats a Snickers ad.

Even PC sitcoms aren't PC. Less than a minute in and sticking it to the French.

I guess they need to find a new regulator as Ofcom has clearly failed in its duty over the years by passing these programmes all as acceptable.  There must be some way of designing a method that goes through every programme and then determines what percentage of each demographic finds something offensive and what level of complaint would be needed to mean shows need taking off or editing.

I can't tell if you're being facetious or not :D

Nobody is banning or censoring these shows. The networks or services offering the shows have taken their own decision to pull the shows or review them.

I don't see the problem with doing it on a case by case basis. If in a few years people are getting offended by The Office then there's nothing wrong with it being reviewed and pulled if that's the best course of action.
