Jacob Ramsey

I watched sky sports news to see their chat with Ornstein, where they review the days big stories. Interestingly they covered a lot of topics, including an Ornstien piece on the Nusa deal falling through, but conveniently ignored his article on Ramsey and the fact both coaches had contradicted it.

Not sure he's trying to unsettle Villa, or Newcastle,  but he's definitely well into the realm of clickbait.

Bardell & Evans were jerking him off on the last 1874 podcast as the best sourced journo around.

And he may be, but guess doesn't preclude him from the dark arts too.

I'll add it to the media thread but his Nusa comments were enlightening too.

Ramsey isn't going anywhere. If we lose him we're limited to 21 senior players for our uefa squads, which will never win us one of the competitions. Yes, we'll sell home grown talent, but not that which has made themselves a core component of the first team (which Ramsey was pre-injury and arguably hasn't been replaced).

Yeah, Ornstein just wants to unsettle Villa players.

(What? :D)

So he just names drops the club on the eve of a big game? Who benefits from it? C’mon. It’s nothing but clickbait. And it worked because we’ve indulged an absolutely bollocks rumour which Unai roundly dismissed. It’s a needless distraction. The Athletic are honestly no better when it comes to this sort of fluff.

He's named Newcastle as having made an approach and Spurs and Bayern being interested.  It's pretty reasonable that all of that could be true.

Why would he give a shit about unsettling Ramsey and Villa? :D

Clickbait. The goal is that simple. The Athletic do some really good work - but let themselves down with this kind of transfer rumour fluff. We should hold them to a higher standard.

They also say we’ve made a third bid for Rogers. Is that clickbait too, or are we happy to believe the positive stuff, just not the negative?

I haven’t commented on that because most transfer stuff is noise. Unless Unai says we are interested or he’s signed, I don’t believe it as much.

Journalism is dying in this country, and around the world.
The Athletic is a different model, but they need subscribers, so they need to be relevant. Every day.

Ornstein is credible, about as good as it gets, but he still has to attract attention to keep his job.

Transfer windows are their big opportunity - and this January has been appalling for them.
So everything is "FFP" related. WE just need to ignore it.

JJ will come back. He needs a run of games without injury. When he’s at the top of his game he’s so key for us. One of the very few who can carry the ball effectively at pace.

Was a really bad cameo. Injury has properly messed him up this season unfortunately which is a real shame because as mentioned this all seemed set to be a mega year for him.
