Why not?

Barry, Milner, Downing, Young, Delph, Grealish

Because being disappointed that one of your players is getting international recognition is pathetic.

Getting called up has nothing to do with those players leaving. We've not been fighting for the top honours for a long time, and those players left for clubs more competitive than us. Playing for England is just a natural part of a player's progress.

The frustrating thing is often that if the players who left to challenge for silverware had stayed, we'd likely have challenged for silverware.

Barry, Milner, Downing, Young, Delph, all left when we had a different owner, weren't spending much and entering a period where we were going to be battling relegation season after season, those players leaving has no bearing on what's happening now.

Grealish was different as well, as he wasn't just a normal player getting called up to England, he was one of the best players in the Premier League, to the point where Man City were wllling to pay £100m for him and put him straight into their team, basically a world class player playing in a struggling team, so we were always likely to lose him regardless of whether he got a call up to England or not.

Jacob Ramsey getting a call up would be more akin to Mings and Watkins getting a call up.

And if teams were to try and sign him we'd be much less likely to lose him than Grealish because of how young he is, he's not at the stage where he would think he has to move in order to win things before it's too late, he and we can hopefully grow and win things together.

It's naive to think he's not already on their radars IMO

Let them look with envy! He's one of our own and is young enough to become a regular England squad member with us in the fullness of time. His job during the next twelve months is to play consistently well enough for us to hold onto the first team place that he's won with us and that won't be easy with the midfield talent that we already have, and might add to in the coming transfer windows. Why would he be looking to move now, with SG at the helm and the chance to learn from him, and from playing alongside the likes of Coutinho? He would be a mug to get itchy feet.

Of course it is. They mingle with the scum 6 players and get envious of bigger riches and chances to win stuff. It isn't pathetic, its inevitable.  Only 5 clubs actually win stuff and they buy up all of the other players who may threaten that. That is why  players like Rice will inevitably get sold in the next few years.

The way he is developing it won't be too long before he gets called up to the England squad I feel even if he has to wait till after the World Cup has happened. Outside chance he could make the world cup squad but knowing Southgate I don't think he would get much playing time.

Don't see why people worry about him getting called up and getting tapped up, pretty sure his on the radar of the big clubs already and i'd imagine the club will try to tie him down to a new long term contract in the summer

I'd say there's no chance of him making any squad without an injury

Southgate is taking rice and phillips as starters, Mount shoe horned in anywhere but where he plays for Chelsea and then Henderson while we all sit there bewildered that Bellingham struggles for a start

No way is someone being ousted on a  performance or form basis

Rice will be sold because he's a quality player, not because he's been talked into moving by England colleagues 🤣

I can't see him going anywhere for a long time to be honest

So when those players start getting tapped up by the words removed in Champions League teams and start saying “I’m the only one in the England squad who hasn’t played in the Champions League and they all tell me about it blah blah blah”, you don’t think that has any bearing whatsoever on them leaving?

Personally, the further we can keep our players from associating with people who turn their head… like Gerrard did with Barry… the better…

Im much happier with our players declaring for any other nation than England

Poor today. Poor last week, despite scoring.

He's great at driving the ball forward and late runs in the box....

... but that's only going to work if we are clearly on top.

He's a luxury we cannot afford in a weak midfield. Sanson needs to start.

He has a big halo over him because of his end product, his youth and the fact that he came from the Academy, but his overall performances have been pretty poor the last few matches. Wouldn't hurt if he sits down for a match or two.  Arsenal did it with Smith-Rowe, their leading scorer. But seems like Gerard has a play them until they collapse attitude.
