Just saw that Hamburg have finally been relegated from the bundesliga. Think we could do a lot worse than bring in Lewis Holtby or Bobby Wood. Holtby still only 27 I believe? And out of contract.

Bobby Wood ( clearly a porn star name btw ) would be a great addition if we are still a championship club next year.

In terms of technical ability I don't have any doubts he is good enough for the prem and I honestly believe he is better than anything we have for the same reason - it's his goal scoring that let's him down imo

He's had a couple of cracks at the prem and shown that he can't hack it, as it stands.

He might improve, but I'd expect a 24 year old to have shown more by now if he was ever going to successfully make that step up.

Lewis Holtby, God that is a name I haven't heard in a long time. I still remember every Villa fan and his dog raging we didn't sign him 5 years ago. Complete myth of a footballer who I still have no idea what he actually does.

He was shit then, he was shit when he signed for Tottenham, he was shit when he went to Fulham, he was shit when he left Tottenham, he has always been shit and I am guessing has been shit for Hamburg and will always be shit.

edit : Realised what it was. He was a small left footed player who floats about doing nothing which apparently makes you a player in a lot of people's eyes.

Haven't heard the name Holtby in a long time and forgot he was a left footed midfielder but remember he was bad and willing to assume from the nothing you remember about him that he's played badly for Hamburg?

He's been in very good form and was one of the best players in their resurgence but unfortunately it was too little too late and they still went down.

They are both past it and would both be terrible, terrible signings.

Past it? Young has been one of the most consistent performer for united this season. 2 goals and 8 assists from left back is a great record.

I personally think two lists have been comprised already

The championship list

The premier league list

I think all the rumours at this stage are bollocks as we dont know what league we are going to be in yet.

IMO he could potentially be a very good shout. Could also help us try to tap into parts of the American market as well

If were in the premier league, I am certain well sign Sam Johnstone, Robert Snodgrass and Grabban permanently......... And I dont think too much will change..... I suspect a couple of squad players as cover/pressure on the pairing...... or with Jedinak filling in when required and maybe a full season on loan for Tuanzebe

Sam will be no1 and probably a new no2 that doesnt have 23 operations per season

Chester and JT will be first choice pair at the back........ Elmo/Hutton/Bree/Taylor and id assume a new left back would be the fullbacks........

I think well see the end of Lansbury and Bjarnason as they wont get in.......

I think the major money spent will be on 2 quality midfield players to play with grealish

My feeling is the rest will be pretty much as is........

Didn't know the window is opening this Thursday.  According to SSN.

I read a couple weeks back it was opening today. They must have pushed it back for some reason then

5 new signings with only 3 coming straight into the team? you want us to get relegated again?

I think that we would be facing a severe relegation problem (if we go up). Keeping our current strikers (and perm. signing Grabban) would be more than good enough for a championship title challenge, but I don't think are premier league quality and we would have a shortage of goals.

He's never had a run of games though to prove one way or the other.

I do think he is one of those people that playing football comes easy to and maybe doesn't work hard enough at his game  and this might be why to date he is a bit part player - but as mentioned before I do like him

God sake i got home from work seen this thread and thought Christmas had come early and the dinosaur had finally been sacked.

Why would a thread about the summer transfer window imply anyone had been sacked?

I won't take the bait, but by all means keep fishing.

Back on topic i don't know where were going to go for talent in the summer.

I'd like to see us scout Asia a bit if Tony has any connections there.

If we go up how much do you think we will spend? It's going to take at least £100m to improve us substantially. Maybe sign some of the more promising championship players we have seen over the last few seasons and add 2 PL proven players , a midfielder and a striker, offload some of our fringe players.
