He's barely had an opportunity to prove himself at Premier League level. He was out of favour or injured for most his time at Crystal Palace yet still scored 15 goals while making only 27 starts for a team that was battling relegation under some negative and ordinary managers. His ceiling's a lot higher than people think and Newcastle are making a mistake by selling him even at that price.

Meaningless when he scored goals as a sub. Anyway, he featured in over 60 games for Palace and barely looked like a Premier League player in the vast majority of them.

It's not meaningless as it shows he was still able to score a decent amount while hardly being settled there.

He played a full 90 mins only 9 times for Crystal Palace in the Premier League and only twice consecutively. In 64 appearances 40 of those were for 45 minutes or less.

10 of his 15 goals came as a starter. So his record as a starter is 10 from 27 which works out to 14 over a whole season which is more than decent for a young player who was still finding his feet in a team which averaged 39 per season during his time there.

He's decent if you're talking about premier league defenders in general.

But he's not decent if you're talking about potential title winning teams. He's not good enough.

He's certainly not worth £30m. Even in this mental market.

Dunno. I'd have rather Jonny Evans playing central defence than Phil Jones/Chris Smalling/whoever United are playing alongside Bailly.

They'll be challenging this season.

Two left field moves for left field players...

Mahrez going to Chelsea. Will he fit into their 3-5-2?

Fernando Llorente going to Spurs.

That's a good signing for Spurs. They needed a capable backup to Kane for years now.

Very surprised nobody bought him earlier. He's a decent player and he's young enough for any club to get 4 or 5 years out of him. Plus the reported fee isn't *that* high given some of the other fees that are around these days.

Swansea re-signing Bony for 12m.

Another good life for a footballer as he's practically been on holiday for last 2 and a half years and will know go back to his old club where the fans love him and probably be on nearly as much as he was at City.
