The banker loving, baby-eating Tory party thread (regenerated)

It's a matter of record that my tory MP took a Ministerial salary of over £100,000 plus an additional £191,000 in expenses for 2014/15.

He then voted to take money off the disabled.

"Sorry Mr disabled person, but I'm afraid we must cut our cloth accordingly, live within our means and not burden our children and grandchildren. So you know that £20 a week you take to bingo, we've got to take it from you. It's for the best."

"Oh okay... that's okay. I'll survive... Excuse me, excuse me? Why are you giving my bingo money to that rich person?"

"Long term stability. If we don't all muck in together the country will go bust. I'm sure you understand. And whilst you're at it, what is it that you actually do with that spare bedroom?"

So, George says to Coca Cola, "You owe us half a billion in tax". Coke say "Do one you silly little man", George thinks about arguing, but all George's friends at the bank work doing the accounts for Coca Cola and they encourage him not to. George's boss says "We need that half a billion, I've promised tax breaks for the city so we'll need the money from somewhere else. Find it!" So George thinks, "Well, I don't want to upset the important people who work for the big company, or the nice people that do their accounts, how can I get the plebs to pay instead?"

And that's how the sugar tax works.

I'd love to see a chart of which these large corporations paid in tax pre 2010 and now  ... yeah I know it's "Ahhh but" , it's just I don't remember tax paid by large multinationals ever being an issue until 2010  when suddenly it's all the fault of those Tory bastards ... revenue is being collected now , it may not be enough , but it is being collected , where as previously it wasn't

yesterdays budget basically gave to lots of small businesses and was paid for by the large corporations  , the sugar tax is irrelevant a red herring to distract from what was done elsewhere , same as the tampon tax which could have been resolved anytime but conveniently got announced yesterday ... a victory for the UK , my arse  !!

I did an online tax calculator thingy the other day and it turns out Mrs H and I will collectively be £219 a year better off after this budget .....it's such a pitiful amount in the grand scheme of things , that I'd rather they hadn't bothered and in that respect they could and SHOULD have left the money in the budget for disabled people , I'll be writing to my MP a bit later to tell him I disagree with what they are doing , not that he will care the spineless clearing in the woods ,all he cares about is protecting his position in the cabinet. They needed to go after the false claimants (well you could argue they didn't and they should have gone after google but that's a different story) but what they have done is go to far and it's time people said enough is enough , if the witty internet can waste it's time on stopping Cowell getting a number one for Christmas , get a pointless debate about Trump raised , then surely twitter is already in overdrive and we have millions of names on a online petition by now  ... oh

ok , seems some of the Tory party are going to rebel , no idea is it will be enough , but if it goes to vote the blanket Labour and SNP vote along with the rebels should easily be enough

After protests at proposed cuts worth £4.4bn, the Work and Pensions Secretary has written to Conservative MPs stressing that consultation with disability groups will continue.

But less than 24 hours after George Osborne's Budget, Tory rebels are writing to the Chancellor claiming the Government will be defeated if it tries to push the changes through.

First point - Agree completely, although I think there's more of an obligation on the current lot, due to their false narrative - you know "clearing up Labour's mess" ,"we're all in it together" and so on. So when they say to disabled people, low paid workers, and so on "we're taking this money off you because..." they can't then morally let off Big Corp.

The second point - it din't really "give" to small business - what it did was take less from them, but at the expense of Local Gov't, as I understand it - by dropping taxes that they paid to councils, it's just depriving other people of services. Like you imply it was "be nice to people to see if it will make them vote the way I want".

He's going come massively unstuck, because ultimately I reckon people will put up with a-holes for a while, if they think they are doing a good job (see Kevin Pietersen, Stan Collymore, etc.), but eventually they can't escape their a-hole-ism and they are found out and got rid of.

If IDS has quit he won't be eligible for JSA.

chose to leave his job, but it's a first offence, so loses benefits for just one month

it's an internal tory plot, they're all words removed, they're just fighting over who will be top word removed in July

So IDS has quit citing "indefensible cuts to disability benefits" in a budget "that benefits higher rate taxpayers".

<_< Why the change of heart Iain?

Was it...

a. He finally asked his daughters why they were spitting at him?

b. He was visited by 3 spirits in the night?

c. He's not quite ready to be a full time ponce?

d. Other

My bet is he's aiming to be the "nice" tory, ahead of Cameron stepping back.

Who are the other candidates for the next leader of the word removed party? Gideon "steals money from the disabled" Osborne, Theresa "spies on everyone in the country and stops you watching porn" May, Boris "silly hair" Johnson.

IDS looks like a fantastic candidate up against those three words removed.

He'll be gutted about that. Although, he's only resigned his ministerial position, so he'll keep his £70,000 that he gets for being an MP. I guess he'll scrape by.

IDS looks like a fantastic party leader compared to literally nobody. Or have you forgotten that 'The Quiet Man' attempted this job once before?

His resignation is a fairly big deal, because it likely cements an awkward climb-down for Osborne. But he'd have been 'reshuffled' after a Remain vote anyway, if that had been the result, so he might not have lost that much in the grand scheme of things.
