I have to confess, I wouldn't automatically think of N. Ireland if I was asked for a list of 'celtic' nations. 

 

 

Indeed. It's traditionally Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany, Isle of Man, Ireland. I think what these groups have in common is that they all retained a Celtic language into modern times, so perhaps that's why NI misses out. Probably more accurate to just include NI as part of Ireland in this sense. But treating it as a separate Celtic nation is indeed very odd.

Amusingly, even if these were the only votes that counted, Mitt Romney would still have lost his home state.
