Been at work all night... been smiling away to myself throughout the shift.

I had a feeling we'd beat them - my only real worry for the future is Chelsea.

Bring on Arsenal - let's av it! :flag:

I've never been to Anfield, but does it feel like the atmosphere-lacking, soulless, industrial scrapheap of a stadium that it seems like on television?

Yup. I was there for the 3-1 win a few years ago, and the atmosphere was dreadful. The 'famous kop' barely made a peep.

Just based on what I've seen on TV over the years, Goodison puts Anfield to shame. No contest. Always a good atmosphere at Goodison, it seems.

goodison is a bear pit, one of the most hostile grounds about when in full flow.

I actually ended up going with Hutton for motm - as defensively good as Baker and Senderos, but he's really impressed me going forward. He's playing nothing like as bad as he did under McLeish - could it be that McLeish was a bad manager..?

Or could it be that he was a bit of a McLeish scapegoat. He was decent under McLeish, but his tackling was reckless at times, and in a team as defensive as McLeish's, he got a lot of stick for being so aggressive.

loved the fact that senderos kicked balotelli all over the place, i liked the lambert interview after the game and also dwight yorke's words. lambert saying people dont realise how big a club villa are they are massive and the fans have been fantastic. yorke saying we are without doubt one of the biggest clubs in the country and when things are good at villa the fans are the best around.

OMG....just been to get the papers and the LIverpool supporting newsagent, must have been waiting all night to turn his venom on me....citing us as a rugby team, bit rich....he and a bunch of what can only be assumed as blue noses joining forces, said they hit the post and bar....I said we could have done that but elected to score instead.....on that they escorted me to the door opened it and said we will still be relegated.....bad loser syndrome can affect your judgement.

It has really tickled me pink......UP THE VILLA

Though it was a pretty horrid game to watch, it was an excellent result.

It maybe horrid, but on paper we hadn't got a prayer.....defensively the whole team was regimented, that takes some doing too.

We have to find ways of picking up points against teams that are better than us.

We did exactly that.

i thought we contained them without to much of a struggle, yeah there were moments but i dont think we were clinging on to life.

We did what we did so the bin dippers had 75% but they still lost hahahaha.

I don't care if we weren't playing total football because you have to play to your strengths. I wouldn't have been happy with playing that way if we were at home to a club like Newcastle.........oh shi

We won and tomorrow at work the Liverpool "fans" will be very quite which I will enjoy as they were gobbing off all last week.

Paybacks a bitch.

I Can't get BBC out here, what did the 'experts' say about us on MOTD?

Very complimentary - said we came to do a job and did it resolutely. They criticised Liverpool's defence and pointed out the lack of cohesion in their team. They also gave a special mention to Senders, pointing out that he got away with one, but that's no more than we've been saying. Can't fault them really, except for the fact that they still employ Shearer in any capacity. He seems to be trying to improve his punditry by getting himself an Alan Hansen-style scrotum neck.

Who the **** is Sunderos?

That was annoying me but I think it's the French pronunciation.

We live in Angleterre, not France, non?

It's Jonathan Pearce. Let's not confuse him.

Guzman, Wiseman and Sonderos.

Despite them having 75% possession what did they realy do with that?! I thought we we very comfortable throughout, looked more dangerous going forward and should have won by more. Take Sterling and Sturridge out and they are a very pedestrian side. And Lambo sure knows how to set a team up vs Rodgers the tranny shagger.

It's games like that you need to watch to understand how possession stats are calculated and the relevance they really have on a result. It's currently done by comparing successful passes, so teams like Liverpool that recycle the ball and play little short balls constantly between defenders they always have high successful pass rates.

In terms of actually having control of the ball around our area, Liverpool had virtually none yesterday. All those new attacking players are going to need a good while getting used to how each other plays before they hurt teams anywhere near as much as they did with the little rat playing.

They seem totally obsessed with the appalling treatment (little sideways flick of the boot) doled out by the Bald Eagle on their new ubersigning. Of course, the 'trifling indiscretions' committed by their now-departed Uruguyan thug simply pale in comparison!

Senderos did a job on Balotelli, like the rest of our grafters did a job on the most lacklustre Plop side in a long while.

my only worry was the substitutions would rather have seen Grealish for Charles at that particular point in the game and Sanchez sub was not required ?

It worked, we held out. I don't see why you can criticise subs that worked.

Not the sort of scenario you want Grealish coming on for. And Sanchez sub was a little more defensive cover and used up precious time.

All our players played well above the levels if have expected. My Liverpool fan friends were laughing at the prospect of Hutton, Cissokho, Senderos and Baker, but all 4 were brilliant.

Cleverley also looked lively and positive, when though it wasn't the perfect game for him to start on, a lot of defensive responsibility for him but he did it well.

MOTM for me definitely Baker, but anyone for us was in with a nomination. Not pretty, but very effective.

I assume all the Liverpool fans who say we should have had senderos sent off realise it would have been 10 v 10 anyway if Lallana had got his second yellow for that pathetic dive

Amusing how Lallana suddenly realised he was already on a yellow and stood up quick.
