skarroki
A lot of people were saying we'd see a different, much improved Baker if he slotted into this defensive unit and maybe we're seeing little glimmers of that here. I imagine he'll benefit massively from being constantly spoken to by Senderos, who seems to enjoy organising, in comparison to Vlaar who is a great defender but not a defensive marshall
OutByEaster? Posted September 13, 2014 Moderator Share Posted September 13, 2014 We look fairly solid, they miss Sturridge and the ability to do something different, we'll need a little luck, but we can get out of this with some sort of result. StefanAVFC
Not lucky in the slightest. How many saves has Guzan had to make?
Dirtysanchez
What was Senderos thinking in that half? 1-0 up away from home and just kicking the legs off Mario, he is lucky not to be sent off, Cleverley been comfortable that half and Westwood's set pieces been excellent. AValon
Nothing much wrong with that half. Have'nt seen a Plop side in ages so much up for a 'smash 'n' grab'. I think we'll definitely score again, so its a case of them folding if their own fans get on their backs.
F-87
So many people doubted Baker, but he's doing well. The reset button got pushed this season - open minds, keep the faith. I really want Senderos to score now... he bloody well deserves it.
Villanun
Meanwhile, at Kopblocks... You just know that Senderos is going to be man of the match.
adw95
Only negative I can see is that we could have really scored 2/3 more.
Dirtysanchez
Gabby has absolutely dominated Sakho He has, having said that Sakho is really average and I'm glad he is playing.
PaulC
Good first half. Should be two up really. I'm just waiting for the on-slaught second half. I hope we can hold firm. I'm worried Richardson is a bit weak in possession.
matrim
Want to see us go back to pressing high up the pitch. Getting pushed too far back and even when the ball goes out gabby is to far away
sexbelowsound
Gotta say, Although its slightly risky, Senderos and Hutton leaving one in on Ballotelli is good to see. Its the kind of defensive nous that we've missed for so many seasons. Agree. It is risky. Good to wind ballotelli up, he's got a short temper so that's good, but no point getting a red in winding him up The Senderos one off the ball was stupid, but the hard, fair tackles are not.

KitKat
I fear the introduction of Sterling here. He's been in great form this season so far and he could definitely change this game for them. Maybe get Sanchez on in response if he is brought on, but I wouldn't want to make that change too early...
trekka Posted September 13, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted September 13, 2014 Well this is really refreshing to see. We don't look like scaredy cats just hoping for the best but we seem to have a bit of a plan in place (about blooming time too some would say). After 4 games, from what I see so far we have nothing to fear this season. Credit must go to Lambert and Keane methinks.
B94villa
BBC text update or whatever it's called more than a little bitchy in describing Gabby's goal.

AValon
Can't help thinking 'what if Tekkers was playing'? We might have been out of sight by now.
terrytini
Terrific. No mention even by some of our lot on here that we are missing our two best players and main new signing. Great credit to lambo and Rambo for a tactically perfect half full of meaningful passes when we have the ball, great organisation, great spirit. It will be a good season if this keeps up, regardless of the result.
