I think I'd built it up to be funnier than it actually is. As for Carrey, he veers between great (Man on the Moon, Eternal Sunshine, Truman Show, Lemony Snickets) to absolutely dire (Yes Man, The Number 23). I cant say that dumb and dumber is a stinker as I have never seen it, it looks poor to me. I have seen parts of ace ventura and it was dreadful.
