Its not really. Clubs are breaking the rules then facing consequences when caught

This is getting ridiculous now.

It takes a longer to investigate and build a case against 115 charges than it does against one.

Only certain clubs are facing consequences when we all know there are far bigger rule breakers who they’re either scared to go after or have decided not to for other reasons.

It’s like the police sitting at the side of the road with a speed gun all day while burglaries and muggings go uninvestigated and thinking they’ve done a good job.

Not to mention the rules themselves are set at a level far too low to allow those clubs to actually be mobile within the pyramid.

Obviously Man City have been *charged*, that's how we know there are 115 charges. There isn't a *verdict*, because the case is massively bigger and harder to prove.

The problem with city is that their case is hugely complex and with an army of Qatari funded lawyers at man city's disposal the premier league have to be 100% correct in everything. Any loophole or mistake brings the whole thing down. FwIW city will get a big punishment eventually but by then it's too late. They are already established as one of Europe's elite.

By the same token the charges go back further than the other clubs that have been charged. They've had far longer to prove this.

However irritable you feel about it, it's just unfortunately true that an accusation that named individuals have essentially falsified accounts over a ten-year time span is much harder to prove to a legally watertight standard than a self-reported number in a club's accounts.

But that's not that all the 115 charges relate to. There's proof they've been paying staff and players two salaries, and a lot of these are no longer with the club. Surely they don't have to wait till all claims have been proved substantial? You wouldn't let a mass murderer walk free because you couldn't yet prove they didn't murder 1 of their victims 15 years ago. You'd try them on what you have then take them back to court later on.

Yeah but it's the rules that are shit. Anticompetitive protection racket in the guise of regulation.

Well yeah I dont disagree about the rule itself but in this case the clubs were aware of the rules before it. Its like fielding a cup tied or suspended player, you might not agree with the rules but you have face the consequences

Alternatively, they have a longer time period and a more extensive breach that they need to build a water-tight case against.

I'm not optimistic that there will ever be justice for City's cheating either, but there are obvious differences when comparing their case with the likes of Everton or Forest (edit: or Leicester for that matter!)

Totally agree. It's just hitting the smaller clubs. The gap will get even greater and its going to affect us massively.

When the rules mean a team that won the premier league, FA Cup and finished 5th twice can't compete, then the rules aren't worth having.

There are some mitigating circumstances for Leicester though, didn't their owners nearly go bust during Covid as they run Duty shops in airports? That might have played a role in their FFP issues.

It'll be something like starting a season on -30, a 75 million fine and a transfer embargo for 3 windows.

Which would be a joke considering all of the trophies they won during that time.

Just break the rules so much it's a complicated case, win a load of stuff, then get punished and it doesn't matter because your cheating worked.

If you look back at what Leicester made on player sales then how the hell have they managed to fall foul of this.  They got £30 odd million for Danny Drinkwater for god sake!

That would fall outside of the 3 year rolling period wouldn't it?
