Missed all the footie action today. What did Sherwood do today in regards to the defeat either during or after the game?

"he hasn't dived, his just gone over because he anticipated the contact" - Brendan Rodgers on sturridge' penalty decision.

this has to stop, its ruining football as a contest

He also threw the ball at Sagna when he was about to take a throw, I think he's brilliant.

I'd rather have him in the PL than another boring Mark Hughes type.

Funny how players only ever seem to do this in the penalty box though.

If he has gone over anticipating contact then surely it's not a foul

How many top flight games hinge on a contentious goal line decision? 2 or 3 a season, maybe double that?

But at least we now have goal line technology.

How many games are decided by players cheating officials by diving in the penalty area?????

And all we get is a pair of penises on MOTD telling us why it wasn't a dive.

It needs sorting out for the credibility of the game, if nothing else.

Such a simple solution; give a player who dives a three match ban.

Why something like this isn't already in place I'll never know. Also, a player who goes down holding his face from a slight flick should get a 1 match ban. It's bad for the sport

England needs more flexible bans. Use judgement on a case by case basis. For instance, not every violent conduct is created equal. Carroll's sending off should've been 2 games. On the other hand, Ramires should get a huge ban.

Likewise, yellow cards should be rescind able if the reason given is reckless challenge and a video clearly shows it wasn't a foul, and dives should be retroactively punished with a suspension and a monetary fine.

No surprise coming fron the manager of the teams who has won the most penalties this season. He'll be telling his players that everyday.

Bans for players that dive is good in theory. But as we see regularly pundits often defend divers. So who decides if it was a dive or not. And I would bet a pound to a pot of piss the players of the "big clubs" would still get away with it

The FA.

It happened down here in the A-League a couple of seasons ago. The rule was "you dive and the opposition gets sent off, then you get the suspension instead".

- Players still dived

- The FFA reviewed the video and found minimal/no contact

- The diver was given the suspension, with the opposition having the red card rescinded

- Players stopped diving.

It's really not that hard - so long as the governing body actually do the third step!

to me that looked a copy of the guzan Suarez incident that was labelled clever play by the meeja

Came in here to post this.

Shearer insisting it wasn't a penalty on MOTD.

Despite the fact it was basically exactly the same as the Suarez/Guzan incident in which he sided with Suarez.

the media seem to have accepted diving, they now call it clever play. it won't be going from the game any time soon sadly.
