il_serpente Posted November 1, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted November 1, 2018 It's a phonetic spelling of the verbal shortening of the word. Jeez, it's not rocket science!
Mark Albrighton Posted November 1, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted November 1, 2018 Just realised that phonetic not being spelt phonetically is equally annoying as palindrome not being a palindrome.
il_serpente Posted November 1, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted November 1, 2018 Speaking of phonetics, my father once owned a sailboat he named ghoti (pronounced "fish"). I believe it was GB Shaw who pointed out that this was a possible spelling of the word based on pronunciation of the letters or combinations of letters in other words.
