England v Chile & England v Germany

Capello was a world class manager who was paid a fortune and yet the 2010 world cup performance were dismal right from the moment Gerrard scored against U.S.

McClaren was woefully out of his depth and couldn't even get England to a major tournament.

Sven had success at club level and in fairness had a decent England record but he had much better players to call upon and you're rewriting history significantly if you think England played fantastic football under him bar a few games like Germany.

Hodgson guided Switzerland to the last 16 of the 1994 World Cup and qualified for Euro 1996. Before that Switzerland hadn't qualified for a major tournament since the 1960s.

Also managed Finland as well getting them their highest ever FIFA ranking. (Information courtesy of Wikipedia of course.)  ;)

It isn't Hodgson's fault. It's the distinct lack of any world class players at his disposal and a further lack of technical players which has hindered England's national team for some time now.

Its about time the English media and the majority of fans get their head out of their backside and just accept the obvious until a better coaching mechanism is put in place to produce better players and reduce the amount of foreign players allowed to play in the Premiership.

Our coaching standard is shite.

Very true, we really need to benchmark Spain, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, San Marino etc if we're gonna get anywhere. Start at the very roots of the game, kids in the park, jumpers for goalposts, fight them on the beaches.

Is Walker available for the germany game as Johnson is crap.

Walker is not better than Johnson.

I think he is. Johnson was caught out of position so many times last night and unlike Walker he hasn't got the pace to recover. I also think he has a good thing going with Townsend.

Don't look at carroll and Henderson at their inflated prices, its worse than that

look at chalobah, £35k a week at 19, cant make Chelsea's bench, nick powell at utd, zaha, keane, robinson, lingaard, mceachran, wisdom, kane, no doubt soon to be berahino...

so many of our young players on huge wages and not playing for their parent club at the highest level, then you throw in the problem of the young players that do play but are still on huge wages at an early age, luke shaw for example

but if your on that kind of money why would they care, they've made it already
