  1. I think we are seeing what a huge miss Tyrone is, not just his ability but his leadership and organisational skills. It is early days though. Torres and Lenglet are barely through the door and Carlos is not long back from a very serious injury. They are all quality players, along with Konsa, and I am sure under a manager like Emery things will eventually click. It would have been nice had they had time to get up to speed and build relationships with Tyrone alongside them though.
  2. We were poor and played as if we thought we could just rock up, go through the motions and win. Hopefully it will be a huge kick up the arse and we won't be so complacent going forward. For what it is worth I still think we'll win the group, which is the bottom line that matters.
  3. There's a good 4 or 5 million of that 17 million who feel betrayed by the charlatans and grifters that conned them into voting for Brexit so if they do go with that headline they'll be preaching to a much smaller net.
  4. I love this attitude and it pretty much mirrors mine and my wife's. I saw may dad never properly retire and die at 60 and I saw my mother in law never reach retirement and die at 55. Even though I was only 28 when my dad died I think it has shaped my thought process especially the older I have gotten (I'll be 50 in a couple of months). Whilst I have got a decent pension to look forward to I never for a second see it as a given that I'll ever actually get to see it and enjoy a retirement so very much live for now. Like you we have embraced travelling and have never got less than 2 or 3 holidays booked and always have something on the horizon to look forward to.
  5. I'd agree with this. Godfather 1 and 2 I've probably watched 15+ times over the last 35 odd years and if I switched the TV over now and one of them was on I'd be pulled into watching it. They are classics and up there in my top 20 films I've ever seen.
  6. I'm sure that is what they will do. Any company, or individual for that matter, making decisions based on their being a Tory government come start of 2025 is living in cloud cuckoo land.
  7. That is lovely mate. It is something many of us take for granted but this post makes you realise how lucky we are. Enjoy the game.
  8. Fantastic news and thoroughly deserved. He has grown into a real leader and one of the foundations at the club now, along with McGinn, Mings, Emi, Watkins and Luiz, that have real quality and provide consistency and continuity that you can put other players around.
  9. Just when you think they couldn't make themselves look even more ridiculous they have once again pulled another load of bullshit out the hat.
  10. If the motorist is just solely focused on if they can still buy a new diesel or petrol car, from the very small pool of manufacturers still producing new ones between 2030 and 2035, then yes it may get the Tories a few votes. You'd like to think the said motorist would also have the required brain cells to see that it will be the same Tories that have presided over bringing this country to its knees over the last 13 years and make their voting decision based on that not on some, in the grand scheme of things, irrelevant bullshit.
  11. Have to laugh at the latest Tory slogan on the front of where Sunak is giving his speech from 'Long Term Decisions for a Brighter Future'. Every decision they have made over the last 13 years has stuck another nail in this country's coffin and now they have the brass neck to go with a slogan suggesting they are capable of delivering a brighter future. Deluded jokers.
  12. Thanks again @OutByEaster?for taking the time to attend and reporting back. What you have said makes quite depressing reading. I get that the club want to increase revenue but money isn't the only thing of value. They should also still value the average Joe everyday supporter. In the grand scheme of things I doubt the changes to how the Holte suite is utilised will make anything like a significant difference to the balance sheet. It sticks another big nail into relations with season ticket holders though which are only compounded by the fact that the club have found the resources and time to complete the Terrace View, are spending time and money on the revised Hotle Suite yet can't sort out basic facilities that the masses use all over the ground. Toilets, drink/food access in a reasonable time and decent wifi. The club need to be very careful. Fans will only take so much as whilst the club is still riding a bit of an Emery induced wave it won't last forever and when it does start to wane I'd imagine the masses may well start to be much more intolerant of the way they are now regarded/treated by the club.
  13. Watching match of the day last night they interviewed the Palace assistant manager and he agreed it was the correct decision not to over turn the original decision. At least I assume that is what he meant when he said the fact the ref looked at the monitor for 2-3 minutes says it all. If you are having to look at the original decision for 2-3 minutes then it surely means a clear and obvious error hasn't been made.
  14. I have watched the documentary/read the Times report. I have also seen brief bits of Brand denying the allegations. Like pretty much everyone posting on this thread then any thoughts I have on the matter are based on that. I had zero clue what his political views are now but had I been pushed to give an answer my last recollection of him was that he was left leaning. It seems he may well be far from that now though. I've got to say based on what I have seen/read I don't know about wanting the bloke sent to prison I'd want him strung up by his bollocks and left like that till he rots. Now it may well transpire that he has a valid defence for all the accusations but him just simply denying them doesn't give equal weight as a handful of women, who as far as we know have no connection to each other, giving some very detailed and harrowing accusations of rape and sexual assault. I am not sure why people seem to think his political views would influence people's view on him after what he has allegedly done other than perhaps if you are similarly aligned with his views you may well be more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt, which given some of the high profile people/media outlets defending him could well be the case. For the rest of us I'd imagine the natural reaction was one of being appalled when watching the documentary.
  15. Dem I put on about 7 pounds mate. Would have been a lot more but we were clocking up over 20k steps most days.
  16. I think so mate. First thing I said to my mrs when we got home is I am not sure how a land holiday is going to compare now it was just lovely waking up most mornings in a different place as 11 nights of the 14 we were in a different port.
  17. Got back from my two week cruise on Thursday. We had a fantastic time and saw some places that I would not otherwise of considered going to. Highlight overall was Montenegro. The sail into Kotor at 5:30am was unreal and the scenery was stunning. Later on in the cruise we also visited Bar in Montenegro and this was also very nice especially the old town, Stari Bar. Other highlights were Trieste in Italy, Taormina in Sicily and Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia were both stunning although Dubrovnik did get very busy. Valletta in Malta I'd been to before but it is a lovely place. I'd also been to Corfu a number of times but Corfu town itself was a little run down. Koper in Slovenia was nice although we had poor weather that day. Ravenna in Italy we visited on a Sunday and a lot was closed but still quite a nice place. As for the ship it was only a relatively small ship, around 2000 passengers, and it was all inclusive and we also paid extra to upgrade to premium all inc so the drink choices were excellent. Food was great as was the entertainment but the best thing about the time spent on the ship were the people. All the staff went above and beyond and we also spoke with and spent time with lots of other passengers and those we did were all really nice people. We are already booked on another one for July around the Greek islands and I am also considering another one later next year.
  18. There is no problem with any player leaving if you are bringing in an upgrade. It will need to be a very good player though to be an upgrade on Lucas. It is win win then as if he goes then we'll be bringing in a very good player, if he stays then we are retaining one.
  19. I think given some of the comments on this thread it should be TGS ( The Gentrification Section)
  20. Over the last 2 seasons he has had two Championship loans and in 48 games scored 5 goals and got 1 assist. I know he has been at struggling clubs but that is a poor return and doesn't suggest he is on the verge of being able to step up to Prem level, let alone Prem level for a club striving to finish in the top 6. If he was as good as some of us seem to think he is then surely better clubs than Hull would be after him and lower table Prem clubs would be sniffing around him. If there were a number of clubs interested, and certainly if there were prem clubs, I am sure we could get more for him. Unfortunately it doesn't appear there are.
  21. From the limited game time I have seen him play for us, mostly pre season friendlies, then he looks a very decent player. I think the fact he is available for 5 mill and could end up at Hull City, who are no better than a mediocre Championship team, suggests that Emery isn't the only one that doesn't think he is yet ready for, or just simply isn't good enough for, regular premier league football.
  22. It said a lot that it was Duran, only back in training for a few days, who came on for Watkins. Archer wasn't going to come on at all as Chambers was about to come on then Coutinho got injured. It would definitely be unfair to judge him on the 14 mins (inc injury time) that he got today as we were just going through the motions. I think it is becoming clear though that Emery doesn't fancy him and if he wants someone to deputise for Ollie then I think Emery is right in thinking that Archer isn't that player as whilst he is a good finisher he doesn't have that all round game that Ollie has. I have said before that the game is littered with strikers, both past and present, who can do it at Championship level but aren't quite good enough for the Premier league. That may not be the case with Archer but we aren't just wanting players to now be good enough for a mid to lower table Prem club we are wanting players to be good enough for a club striving to finish top 6 and I don't see that he is that or has enough about him to develop to become that.
