  1. How Ait Nouri didn’t get booked there I’ll never know.
  2. Question I have is whether he’s always been this way and the media didn’t show it or whether this is a relatively new thing. I remember at one time he seemed to be an incredibly lighthearted and reasonable guy. Then there was a season (after they’d won the PL I think) where it was a tough time for the team but also him personally (think his father died or something?) and ever since we’ve seen these interviews where he comes across as a grade a tool come through with regularity. By his own admission the relentless nature of the job has ground him down to the point he needs to quit. So question (for me) is do his personal issues + being mentally ground down explain these outbursts and he will look back in time and cringe or has he always been like this?
  3. Totally agree against the top sides fine lines make all the difference. They were pretty much full strength today and our squad is on the ropes in terms of numbers and fitness and Unai chose a setup to prioritise not losing, at half time it was looking a good decision but first goals are so so often decisive. While I think we could have done more to stop Sarr going through it’s a hell of a cross. After that we fell apart, we’ve seen it before from this team and there is a bit of naivety I think. They want it so much… for us as fans for the club, for themselves…when we go behind it can lead to gaps and errors. Which meant we were always between a rock and a hard place. It’s another really painful one to take especially so soon after the Utd game. Be we are still right in the thick of this race and it’s going to go right to the end.
  4. I wonder if this place will be cross pit or garden of Eden later? Genuinely got no idea.
  5. Knock on to that is whether is going to pay anywhere near what he is worth after a pretty poor season.
  6. His last start for us was against Fulham away which got Gerrard sacked instantaneously. Seems like he did a very good job for us to me.
  7. Rightly getting a lot of plaudits and I’m as worried as everyone else if he will be out for a while. However just for the sake of treating everyone the same I’ve checked back and it was Pau that lost Awonyi for first goal. Poor stuff, naughty Pau.
  8. I said it before but I don’t think he is one of those players who can come in and hit the ground running. He needs consecutive games to get up to the speed. Like Tielemans in that respect. We are going to need him in this little period so I hope he can get up to speed very very quickly. Because right now he doesn’t look just a bit slow he is notably a yard slower over 5/10 yards than everyone else on the pitch. He did OK yesterday on the ball but off it him and Lenglet were all over the place. We conceded about 4 guilt edge chances in the middle of the pitch. On another day we had an absolute disaster yesterday which given how much better than them we are would have been criminal.
  9. I kind of feel for him because he’s unbelievably good at part of the game and unbelievably bad at another equally important part of the game. It’s a very rare combination that I’m not sure I’ve seen in another player ever. Increasingly looking like he chose the wrong sport. Feel like he’d have been a hell of a rugby player.
  10. Another assist last night and a heavy hand in the other goal too. I know he wanted to leave and I wonder if that will change in summer if we did want to bring him back. But would have been great to have him as an option with all these injuries and Zaniolo struggling to find any form.
  11. Why do they let him commentate on their games it’s so annoying for 50% of the people watching the game.
  12. I often think this but am too afraid to say it because…you know…
  13. Yeah I’ve often wondered why he doesn’t do that more as he has a decent strike on him and remember him getting a few goals outside the box for Brentford. I think it’s mainly because for us he is usually arriving on the end of things. I don’t remember him refusing that many long shots.
  14. At least if you ever end up in prison you’ll be able to satisfy two tough guys in the showers at once so not all bad.
  15. 30 g/a is 35 games this season. Not bad, not bad at all. Started panicking a little when that big lump trod on his foot.
  16. I've had that before its probably because you are buying it in an area where they dont do concessions seats. So you pay full wack or find somewhere else in the ground to sit.
  17. Putting results aside and just looking at performances how do we explain going from Newcastle > Sheffield Utd > Chelsea > Man Utd. Sheffield Utd I get as they are toilet but we still executed really well. The rollercoaster nature of our performances must be driving Unai crazy.
  18. I understand your point and felt the same in the game most of our best moments seem to fall to him and he couldn’t capitalise. But even though it was frustrating it’s also kind of encouraging (if I can hold back the terrible bubbling anger at losing to this mob AGAIN). It’s encouraging that he was in those positions time and again, we played much much better today overall and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that JJ was a part of that. He’s off it but not by miles in my opinion and nearer to being back on it than Diaby, and Zaniolo in respective order. Whoever decides to show us what a brilliant player they are first. I hope they do it sooner rather than later.
  19. This, my biggest disappointment of the whole evening is that he (and many others) clearly went missing after giving the ball away a few times in a row. They clearly didn’t want it and that lack of effort to demand the ball and want to get on it just narrows the space for everyone else. As I say he wasn’t alone in that but it was the first real sign of our mental fragility. We’ve not been good for different reasons for a while but I felt like last night was the first time we didn’t believe we were the better team. Lots for Unai to work on.
  20. You beat me by a whisker!
  21. You’ve opened a can of worms here @OutByEaster? We drive and the traffic is horrendous and only seems to get worse year on year. Driving in from M6 we tend to park in area around Upper Sutton street. There is always a huge queue stretching back to M6 all along A38 and around the round about. This is nearly all caused by cars turning right at the traffic lights where Upper Sutton Street crosses Victoria Road. It means only 1 or 2 cars move in each set of lights and it clogs everything up for miles back. If you stopped people turning right for an hour or two on match days this huge queue of traffic would be magically resolved. And for people who need to turn right there are plenty of streets they can take further down the road. Simple change - huge result exactly the kind of win Andrew has been brought in for. Been wondering why club doesn’t do something about this for years it’s so obvious.
